Ok I am rebuilding my 4G63T. I had rust in my first cylinder and i took it to a shop they honed the cylinder as far as it could be done... and they got all but a slight smudge of rust out... the guy said it was seeded pretty deep and the only way to get it all out is if i bore the cylinder... of course doing that will cost another 1K after parts and labor... my pistons are good and he said that the engine would run another 100K miles with that slight smudge anyway... If I don't then it will cost $110 for rings, and bearings, and I will have to do the labor myself. I know that if I bore i'll get some more power... how much? and what do you think i should do? (i only have 500 dollars right now to get this car back on the road)

i dont know how much your considering boring it. but I know the optimal bore for our car is .020' over. this won't give you a substantial amount of HP. and $1000? you need to go somewhere else man. Im getting my eclipse block done for around $700-800 and that includes : disassembly, boring, decking, hot tank, pressure test, and reassembly + parts. and parts are costing me around $1000 and i'm getting ALL ARP and forged internals.

Soooo you may want to look elsewhere
