hey this is for all you guys who've saved alot of money and have the skills to make there own 3in exhaust. How exactly do u go about doing this like for all the flanges and bends i live on a farm so i have a very broad assortment of tools so my capabilities are pretty high. But theres no way i wanna be forkin out 400-600 dollars for somthin i could make with alittle bit of time and effort.

P.S. hows my grammer now. I know that when i was askin about the hks cams thing it was bad but thats because the keyboard i was usin was all screwed up so i hope i meet EVERBODY'S standards. :thumb:

do a search for a thread called "any sleeper style exhaust systems" or something along those lines. One of the post talks about how this guy built his own 3" exhaust and it layed out everything he bought and how he attached it and everything it would be pretty helpful for you. But to make it simple purchase some 3" mandrel bends, a 3" flex section, some 3" pipe, some 3" flanges, muffler of your choice, and weld together with the least amount of bends possible. Do a search for the thread it would be very helpful for you. later.

This is what I wrote a while back (how I made a 3"SS catless back exhaust and 2.5" SS DP):

Build it yourself or buy the parts and get someone to weld it up for you.

For the downpipe(2.5"):
~ 3ft SS 2.5" tubing $36 @ $12/ft.
1 - SS 2.5' 90 mandrel bend (will have to be cut) ~$25-30
1 - 2.5" SS flex section $100
1 - 3" to 2.5" SS reducer $10
1 - 3" flange $2
1 - 2 1/4" flange $2 (had to port mine out a bit to match ported stock housing (2.5"))

For the Cat-less section:
3 - SS 3" 90 degree bends $90 @ $30 each. (some will have to be cut)
~8 ft. 3" SS tubing $100 @ $12.50/ft
1 - 3" flange $2
1 - 3" SS straight through Dynomax Ultroflo muffler ~$80-90
~12ft. SS 3/8" rod to hang exhuast.
Use a peice of extra 3" SS cut at angle for the tip.

All prices CANADIAN FUNDS!!

So you can have a completeSSmandrel bent turbo back exhaust for around $400 if you know how to weld (use appropiate SS wire, I used a mig welder).

Forgot to mention the project from start to finish took around 5-6 hours. I first tack welded everything together, and then completed the welding at the end. I ran the exhaust under the rear axle with no ground clearance issues, exhuast does not even scrape when going over speed bumps. The flex section does give some play for the DP, but you should try to keep it a as straight as possible, take your time cutting the mandrel bend for the DP, I cut my 90 degree bend to around 70 degrees.

Another thing, if you are looking to do a 3" DP, you will probably have to indent the tubing at the DP flange as the tubing is larger than a ported (2.5" stock O2 housing). I had no clearance issues with the oil filter with my 2.5" DP. I would recommend doing a 2.5 DP with a 2.5" flex section (much cheaper than 3" flex section) and then flaring out to 3" after the flex section. A 3" DP is only necessary with an aftermarket O2 housing and a large turbo.

Once again I did my exhuast in all stainless steel, so it will cost more than doing an exhuast out of aluminized steel if you are looking to save a few bucks. Remember all my prices are in CANADIAN dollors.

1gfromND,
I don't know where exactly in ND you are located, but i have all the pipes and bends to build a 3" turbo back if you were interested. I could as well build the system for you if you could drop the car off for a day. I am located in West Fargo, ND.
