anyone know the part numbers for the timing belt tensioner pulley wrench, and for the special tool that pushes the pin in on the auto tensioner? how much do they cost from the dealer? when i went to get them satan's minion said i needed the part numbers to order them, he also stated, "there is no such thing as a turbo charged eclipse."

Special tools... I've never used special tools to do a timing belt job. Use a bench vise to compress the tensioner and then shove a paper clip in the holes to keep compressed until after its installed. Remove clip when ready....

hey i went to my local matco guy and he ordered them for me. the tool that screws in is great makes changing the timming belt a breeze.

RRE usually has the tensioner tool in stock. They make their own, so they should have some. It 's only like $5 or $10... I can't remember the exact price.

Don't know the part numbers off the top of my head, but both the shop manual and the Chiltons' manuals have them listed. You do own the shop manuals, right? :D

Tensioner pulley wrench: a little careful pulling and prying took care of that for me. Took me a couple of tries to get the tension just right; make sure you check the tensioner gap before you assume you got it right. ;)

Tensioner tool: Get a little over a foot of 5/16" bar stock, and thread it to 8mm x 1.25 pitch (you can thank DSMtuners member steve for that suggestion); thread the other end and lock a couple of nuts together for a ratchetable end. Cheap and easy. You can apparently use the battery hold-down rod as well (see the VFAQ on it), but I haven't tried it. After a few uses, you might need to clean up the threads a little bit.

The only "special tool" I needed was a crank wrench that I picked up from Dejon Tool, and that's only because I was doing a balance shaft elimination at the same time. ;)

The Tensioner pulley wrench is MD998767. And use the vise the put the pin in like Ezzard said.
