I was wondering if anyone was running a 20g turbo with stock 1g pistons. A 20g is what i will most likely be running on my car but right now i am building the motor and trying to decide if the spool would be to slow on stock 1g pistons or should i go 95 piston\1g rod combo. This car is going to be my daily driver. Any input is welcome. thanks!

I would strongly reccomend the 2g piston 1g rod combo, its been proven for years, and if your rebulding it back to stock, its the best way to go

I hit full boost just around 3500rpm. Stock bottom end.

my goals do not require me to go forged and i think it would be over kill. i ordered 95 pistons and rings at work today. Oddly enough i work at a honda dealership, i got a good deal. Thanks for all your input guys, this is the first motor ive ever built. Wish me luck.

The spool difference is not even noticeable. I ran my 20G car over 100 passes on 1g piston and dailyt drove it, works great.

I hope you actually need to put in new rings and aren't doing it because you think its a worthwhile mod in and of itself.

my timing belt skipped and destroyed 1 piston, there is broken pieces of valve guide all over so i am doing a complete rebuild. thanks guys.

Its a bit more but you won't rebuild the motor again to handle more power if you go with good rods and forged pistons. :D

stock internals are forged.

food for thought:

stock motor has gone mid 10's
stock motor has been good til about 550hp.

stock internals are cast and stock internals are good for maybe 500 crank hp before things start getting hot

Just a note on connecting Rods:_ Based on our 40 years of racing experience, building motors and our 1000's of hours spent on our dinos, we have found that the Import stock connecting rods are good up to approximately 200HP._ If you expect to exceed these requirements by adding Nitrous or Turbo Charging, we strongly recommend that you upgrade your connecting rods along with any forged pistons.

Honestly, I wouldn't buy from a shop who thinks that Mitsu turbo rods only hold 200 horsepower (Wow, 2G's must be breaking rods all the time, with 210 hp stock!), and can't even spell DYNO correctly.

haha that's funny, what a bunch of dumb ####s, hey I test dino LOL
should be a good motor!!!

Are you sure that it isn't one of those "tires vs tyres" type of things? :)

No. It's not.
