Im going to run an evo 16g at about 24 psi (race gas) and have the supporting mods, my goal time is high 11's. I am just concerned about what FMIC to buy. Ive looked at the Greddy 24 and Apexi GT. I have heard that the Greddy 24 is so big that it causes overheating due to the radiator blockage. Also the Apexi isnt as big, but it uses delta fins. Any recomendations.

Also Ive seen Spearco cores for sale on ebay. Are these good, and where would I get the piping at?

My whole radiator is covered by my intercooler. I have only 1 fan no A/C fan anymore. I can sit in the summer in 85-90 deg weather in stop and go traffic with the A/C on (only 1 fan running) and my car doens't get hot. Why? Because I run 80% water 20% glycol mix with 2 bottles of Water Wetter. Even with the logger on the dyno which is killer for heat my temps his say 212-220deg max and took about 1 minute between runs to get back to 190 deg... I did see 230deg once on the dyno after doing a hard pull at 6000-7500 rpm loaded on a clayton dyno. Clayton is a water brake dyno that can hold your car at a particular RPM. Thats like running flat out on the highway with the gas to the floor at 150+MPH, and we held my car like that for almost a minute fixing required RPM ranges. Even then it only took less than 2 mins to get back to the 190deg range.

Basically what I am saying is you shouldn't overheat if you have your setup right. A lot of people overlook their water/glycol mix and wonder why they are over heating...

The spearco cores on ebay are bar and plate just their older model sizes they don't sell anymore so those guys are selling them. Buy that intercooler and make up your own pipes. Buy mandrel bent sections and cut and fit them and tape them together at the ends. Mark the spots and have a welding shop weld them up for you. No big deal.
 
thanks, another ? i had though was that I heard with cutting your bumper to fit the Greddy 24 FMIC, your bumper goes from a 5 MPH bumper to a 2 MPH hour bumper. Couldnt i just take my bumper out totaly instaed of cutting it? What would be the effects to this..

Apexi cores are some of the nicest out there, despite the reputation. The only thing that's bad about the Apexi setup is the fact that it has a lot of piping as it goes back to the stock location, and "looks" small.

Let's just say that the "tiny" Silvia core is good enough for a FP Green turbo, although it's starting to push the efficiency range (Which isn't that bad for a setup that costs so little). The GT "Skyline" core is good enough for huge amounts of power (Enough to support many many single turbo Supras/Skylines that dwarf the amount that 4G63's make), although you'll have to do get your own piping, like VP short route.
 
i wouldnt get greddy my friend got one for his jetta, it was the worst fitting intercooler i have ever seen. it would not fit at all w/ his factory bumper cover w/o cutting the whole bottom off and it would look horrible if u did. just my .02
