Someone wanna explain this to me, i heard they work off ingnition or something, lowering the cars rev limiter, but how does that make yer car spool up. It doesnt really make sense to me, also does anyone know how will the dsmlink works with this function. Anyway if someone with some info could help me out that would b super.

the advantage to a stutterbox is that you can set the rev limiter down to, oh say 5,000 rpm (or somewhere that will allow your turbo to spool, but not so high that it will really hurt your tranny on the launch), then you can just plant your foot on the floor and not have to try to hold it there, then you can concentrate on the tree.

Yea i got that part, but how does it let u build up boost??? Or is there somethin else u need to make boost of the line.

Basically the short answer is;

The turbo will not spool if you hold the RPMs constant, therefore if the RPMs rise and fall sharply the turbo will spool (to a certain extent) this will allow you to have boost when leaving the starting line at a lower RPM then rev-limit for tranny health.

Hope this helps,
Joe

More advanced stutter boxes will also retard the timming momentarialy ala world rally style, and will build more boost than just a regualr stutter box.

Building alot of boost off the line would be Anti Lag which is what you see alot of the well known racer's using. It basically retards timing well into the negative and such. It sounds like your car is about to explode or smth, but there actually building like 15 or more lbs of boost off the line. Someone correct me here if i'm wrong, but that's the general idea.

The PMS system also offers a stutterbox option by conecting an input to the clutch switch. This will temporarily lower the rev limit while the clutch depressed and then raise it back up when it is released. Has anyone out there had it hooked up? I have the PMS system but have never bothered to hook it up. :dsm:

Most sutterbox's feature two adjustable RPM', one for the launch and one durring WOT shifting. The first RPM limit is activated when the clutch is depressed and the car is still; the second limit engages with clutch depressed and car in motion. This is commonly refered to as a "two step."

For example, my TMO ECU is setup so that I can choose to launch at 5000, 5250, 5500, 5750, or 6000. When in motion I can hold WOT, clutch in, and RPM will drop back to 6000. This second feature is useful for keeping the tach out of the red if one's right foot remains firmly planted durring shifting.

is that standard for the stage III ecu?

The stutterbox features are included in the TMO stage III package. The launch points are user selectable, but are limited to five. TMO's website explains this in detail, although I do not know if it is still an active company. You should try to contact them directly if you have specific questions.
