Which galant has the correct 4g64 for a swap into a dsm?

heres my situation. i found a galant in the junk yard. i looked a little closer and the engine is either a 4g63 or a 4g64. how can i tell which one it is? i dont know the year of the galant, but i do know that it has electric power steering and an electronically adjustable suspension. any info is appreciated.

i'll put it this way,the only galant with a 4g63 was a galant VR4...

look on the firewall.. It will say the engine code.. Galant 4g64's are SOHC (at least my sis. 97 galant is.). 4g63 will be DOHC. You should be able to tell from the valve cover anyway.

there was a DOHC 4g64's.

and the above stated,i forgot about the early galants,a few of them did have the 4g63,but they had red valve covers,the DOHC 4g64's will have black valve covers.

A few of the 94-95 galant had the DOHC 4g64.

look at the engine code on the tag thats on the firewall...

Only the '94 Galant GS had the DOHC motor. I'm guessing the car you
are looking at is the older square body (7G) like the VR4's right? The '94 is a 8G and like all its brethren, the 4G64 was the only motor available ('94-'98)

correction, VR4 is a 6g and 94-98 is 7g, but that's beside the point. Finding a 94 galant GS will be VERY hard. Only like 5% of the galants of 94 had that head. You are better off buying a SOHC 4g64 from any 94-98 galant and swaping your DOHC head onto it. My 94 galant came factory with the same head as a 2g eclipse so I know it works.

I found a 4G64 block with all the internal brand new (stock) and its says "MITSUBISHI EXPO GALANT 4G64 2.4 LITER SHORT BLOCK 92-95"

will this work on a swap for my 92 Laser RS?
what I am scared is that if im gonna blow the engine ith my turbo, and if it ill be a straight fit with all my others 4G63 parts.

No it will not work straight drop-in, there some other modifications to be done.

**EDIT** Try doing a google search for 4G64 swap.
