well yet again my car is down.
The other day I heard a clacking noise coming from underneath my valve cover. I thought sure either a roller, spring or cam cap had broken. Well when I took it off ... NOTHING.

So a Friend came down to old Havelock to help me out.

I took off every roller and every lifter and had them out and in, in faster than I though I could. Anyway, put it back together... still there.

My Friend then said he would come down Sunday and he would trailer my car to his house and we would start pulling the head.

I then said "what about and injector". He said "well, what else we have to lose". So I pulled the plug to the #4 injector where the noise was coming and sure enough it went away. Put it back on and at 3 grand it would start clacking again. Evidently this cylinder is running lean and I am hearing fuel and spark knock.

I ordered a new set of denso 720's to replace the bullshit DSR 660's I now have. I have been running the 660's at over 90% duty cycle, which leads me to believe they are NOT true 660's.

I hope this also cures all the other tuning issues I have been having. I.e. popping at WOT, inaccurate fuel trims, extremely HIGH knock counts and also knock at cruise. I believe this because I have high knock because of the faulty injector, and to get rid of the knock I have to add fuel and then that makes my injectors work even harder.

I am keeping my fingers crossed when these new injectors come in, I MAY have an 11 sec timeslip some day

I know your pain, I have Extremepsi 780cc injectors, and they are nothing but problems and are actually ~700cc injectors.
Car sputters and backfires a little at idle. at ~6300rpms at WOT it starts sputtering. And its NOT my plugs or wires. And the only way not to get knock is to run rich as hell, 9:1 on dsmlink V1, so actually ~9.5:1.

Think Im gonna ask for a refund and order me some FIC 850's

What you explaining is the EXACT same thing mine is doing. I will bet it does not get better.

Yep, ball-disc. From what Ive read on dsmlink forums is that the FIC injectors seem to be the most consistent.
I have also learned that the sputtering at idle (probly at high rpms too) is that the injectors are not properly balanced.:(

I don't know anyone having problems using the Denso injectors. I am actually not sure if they are ball and disc or pintle but I have some denso 660s on my car and it idles like stock. Something to think about if you are going to change injectors.

I guess I should have seen that in your first post! Good move :thumb:

Can you explain the difference between ball-disc and pintle? I know one is better than the other but I don't really know why. It has to do with the spray pattern of the fuel I think?
