Smell after exhaust install

Alright I installed my brand new N1 cat-back and downpipe tonight. It sounds great and everything runs smoothly, the only thing is after driving it for the first time and a few times after that there is a smell coming from the car, it smells liek burnt marshmellows. I didnt know if there was a prob. or if it is just the normal smell now that the cat is not there anymore and its a new system. Let me know. Also on a side note, what is a good normal vacumm on a boost gauge, mine is at about 20. Let me know.

it is normal for your exhaust to smell like that for a couple weeks after you install it.

i had the same problem with my N1, smelt like something was burning, like paint smell. wierd!!! and im also wondering about the vacumm, mines at 20 too...

20 in hg. Is what a car with stock cams should pull at idle. Well right around there. Is you are getting lower vaccum then you have changed cams or there could be a problem with you car. That was the first sign that there was something wrong with my car. it was a burnt exhaust valve.

I had a smell for a day when I get install my Apexi dunk catback. since I used a sealant instead of gaskets, I guess it was that just melting into place. The is gone now though.

The smell is normal. Generally their are chemicals on the parts that need to burn off. It should go away after a week or so.

When I put my 3" turbo back exhaust I cracked a bolt in the manifold and this guy my mom knoew came over and tapped it out and he helped me put the rest of the exhaust on. Well he put the dwonpipe on and I met him at the race pipe. I didn't notice any smells or anything and it all wen on good but then two weeks later I smelt this horrid smeel through my ac vents. And it sounded like I was running out of my manifold. I look and the bolts he tightened were on anymore. One was holding it all together! It almost fell off!
