I plan on installing a set of 264/272s into my car and was reading the VFAQ. Is it really nessessary to bleed the oil out of the lifters? I see the point because the cams a hight profile. But aren't the lifters going to fill back up with oil to the same pressure after priming it with oil?

The install looks pretty staight forward. I'm pretty confident in my skills, but are there any "tricks" I might need to know?

Thanks guys,

I didn't prime my lifters when I installed my HKS Cams. I did not have any problems. I let the engine fill them up with oil by turning the engine over a few times w/out the ignition hooked up, to build up oil pressure. Then hook up the ignition and you should be good to go.

EDIT: I'm also using Crower titanium valve springs and retainers, would be a good idea for you as well.

Not unless he's planning on reving over 7500 RPM's. I have never heard of anyone overlaping with stock springs and retainers with that combo; or even 272/272's for that matter...

Nope, I don't plan on over reving her.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I did plan on cranking it over a few times without the ignition fuse in place. I would get titanium spings and retainers but I'm getting a FMIC, 550s, the 264/272s, dual stage MBC, and a LSD insert all at once... I get those down the road

Check out the cam install VFAQ at RRE. All they say is to let the car sit for at least 3 hours after installing cams so the lifters can bleed back down on their own. You don't have to take them out or drain them.
