i have a mod question about the 4g63 in the new evo 8 and gsx

now as some of you know i will be buying a 04 EVO in the next month or so and i want to start modding it just basic bolt ons for now.

my question is i know both the EVO and the GSX have the 4g63 motors in the however the EVO's head is turned around inother words the cams are on the left instead of the right like our GST's and GSX's.... so with that said would i still be able to put the mods that are made for our GSX's on my new EVO; such as exhaust manifold, turbo, intercooler, exhaust, cam rods, ect.... or would i have to wait for companys to specifically make parts for the EVO.

no,as far as i know,most of the parts are not interchangable,you should really look around. there are lots of companies that are already making lots of stuff for the EVO.

well i know of one so far Brainstorm, and they make cams, ecu's, exhaust, manifolds, internals, injectors, but damn the price.... try 1200 just for cams, and over 3000 for a turbo kit, and i believe the turbo back exhaust was some where around 1400.... man i'm going to be broke.

stick with the names you know and trust. HKS, Greddy, Apex-i, Bushur, AEM. they can all supply with the stuff you just listed for your EVO. and at better prices.

Most of the parts are not interchangeable due to the EVOs turbo design which spins backwards from what we are used to. I do think that cams are directly interchangeable though. I know Buschur is running the HKS 264 cams in the car right now which I assume are the traditional cams we have been using.

I was not aware of the turbo desgin. what exactly did they do to get it to spin backwards? I guess i'll be giving buschur a call.

yeah and brainstorm is at www.turboperformance.net. they had a EVO 8 on the cover of Turbo mag. where they made over 400 hp. with one, but like i said there stuff is hella expensive.

I think buschur and other shops are close to having manifolds out, so you can use regular turbos.

pick up the new turbo mag. 407 whp with a different turbo, intercooler, and fuel controller I belive.

I did just cause I was at work and wanted somethign interesting

But yeh...I would expect new parts for the EVO 8 to be a bit more expensive than parts for our cars...mainly cause...the companies can get that kind of money now, since the cars are new (to the US) and because some parts had to be custom done for the EVO...so they are still paying off(trying to get the money back) from developmental costs.

But I also think that many things will be interchangable, while many other things will not be.
