I have the money to buy it but the one place i trust to do it is charging me 300 to install, tune, than a dyno run. Do you guys think thats a good deal? I dont think i should attemp to install something like that.

Install I believe is on VFAQ.com... Thats doesnt look bad... But Dyno while tuning it is a challenge i would imagine...

It really is not that hard just follow the VFAQ. The place near me charges $65 to install and $50 an hour to tune and they said that it takes them 2 hours max to tune it. Thats $115-165 for the install and tune. They will put it on the dyno for an extra $100 but thats not to tune thats just to run it. They charge $150 an hour to dyno tune it. You could tell them to forget the dyno run for now and it might save you $100.

if u wanna do it right, have it installed at a dyno and tuned and dynoed. or u can attempt it yourself and totally tune it ass backwards and not know what your gaining/losing out of it. but hey its your choice. :dsm:

Installation is cake.

I tuned mine myself with a datalogger when I installed it a couple of months ago, I am running 630cc injectors with my 14b.

There's no way that it's tuned perfectly but it gets me by until I throw the 50 trim in.

took me a little more than 10 mintues but not much more. Soldering under the dash isn't that fun but it's not hard.

Install is a piece of cake.Unless you're colorblind and can't read, you shouldn't have a problem. Then, just get a datalogger and tune it yourself. This too is not difficult. $300 sounds high to me. If you plan on modding a DSM, you should learn to do most of the stuff including tuning it yourself..... unless you are rich and like wasting money.

You need to tune it using a datalogger? I thought you just use the adjustments on the controller its self. Or is that just to see the overall effect on your engine.

the data loger is to see how the adjustments you did to safc are affecting you engine. it makes for easy adjustment and takes out alot of the guess work.

Out of all the posts in this messed up thread, this one worries me most. Why would you pay a shop to tune your car, if they dont use a dyno? Especially if they HAVE a dyno?. So basically it takes them 2 hours to drive your car on the street and abuse the hell out of it and you pay them money. OR you can pay MORE money so they can actually use the dyno, but they WON'T use it for tuning?

How come so many people lately are willing to buy parts for their car that they don't know how to put on? I admit I didnt know how to install an AFC when I bought mine, but I learned the process by DOING IT. That is the only way to learn and grow. I feel good when I can honestly say that I installed all of my modifications myself.
