GreenBelt,
How did you handle modifying the down pipe to accept the V band and over sized o2 housing that FP recommends with their turbo. I spoke to RnR about a V band down pipe and exhaust system. Since I know he did a couple before.

To date he has the best price hands down on the type of exhaust system im looking for. With that said has anyone simply modified there existing D/P to accommodate the V band o2 housing? If so how difficult was it. If not who did your down pipe, and what did you pay for it.

My friend out here just put one on the other week. He did all the mesuring his self and then cut off the Down pipe flange and lined it up marked it then took it down to be welded for $50. It looks outstanding!

When you buy the 3" o2 it comes with the a flange for your downpipe, with any luck you would chop off a part of your existing downpipe and weld that flange up and you should be good to go.

I went the 2.5" but I'll will be building a 3" downpipe from there using RRE parts.

For not a whole lot more than what some of these shops are charging for a downpipe, you could almost go buy a used MIG, buy the materials needed and fab your own.

Then you'd have a MIG welder after it's built. ;)

Yeah I ordered the 3" o2 and dump dump tube setup today. The 02 exit angle looks totally different then the upper bend on my buschur d/p. ill see how it goes, RnR has a 3.5" V band d/p and cat back that I really like. For simplicity I may just do that. I hope i can just chop and weld the existing down pipe. that would make life a lot easier.

Thanks for the help man ill do the best I can with that other thing.

My intention was for you to modify your existing 3" downpipe in the manner which a few people here have described.

The 3" O2 housings I build are designed mainly with maximum flow in mind (long gentle radius) where the 2.5" are designed with best fit in mind.

I'm not saying the 2.5" O2 don't work well, cause the same ones that you can buy have dyno'd 550hp/422ft/lb on our dyno, but the main concern is fitment. Making it so it bolts up int he exact same orientation and angle that a stock O2 housing would.

When you buy the 3" it comes witht he other half of the Vband ferrel. You must measure and cut very carefully but it should mate up easily. You can swing the housing 360 degrees because it is a vband and that helps with the fit immensly. Just be careful you don't take too much off on the first cut cause you can alsways cut more off but adding more on is a boitch. Thanks for your purchase, we appreciate it.

Especially since you turned from the dark side :)

Yeah blowing cash on the dark side sucks balls. My intention was to have a section of my down pipe removed to accommodate your 3" o2 like you described.

Thanks for chiming in to clarify that it is in fact possible to adapt my existing 3" down pipe. To mate with your 3" o2 housing, Im sure many people had/have similar concerns when considering the FP30 line of turbos and Your 3" Vband o2.
