I've been reading a lil about FMICs.. i was thinking about getting upper ic pipes connecting from throttle body to stock SMIC.. i was planning to get the Dejon tool upper IC pipes.. now thinking about the future.. i plan on getting an FMIC.. now if i get an FMIC.. will the dejon tool upper ic pipes be useless as i'm going to have to replace them anyways?

i emailed dejon and they said it depends on the fmic I'm interested in getting.

So which FMIC kits wil connect to the upper dejon tool ic pipes?

Big Greddy, Apexi would work. Unless you have custom fabricated piping or buy like the IRC kit, then you should be fine with the Dejon UICP or RRE UICP whatever, they are allt he same basic design in that they go route to the SMIC or FMIC the same as the stock setup. I have the Big Greddy and and using the Extreme UICP. Thus, the main difference is that you take more of a direct route to your FMIC when you go the alternative route. It all depends on what your goals are.

thanks for the replies.. still debating if i should just wait and save for the whole fmic.. which has better (shorter piping) or just buy the dejon upper ic pipes now.. and just get the fmic later but will have omore piping.. is more piping that bad?

I'm in a very similar situation as you, but I've already gotten the Dejon UICP. One thing that was mentioned to me is that you could sell the Dejon pipe later if you go FMIC that doesn't use it.

jdoug.. how do you like the dejon upper ic pipes.. did u get the one from the throttle body to the smic? how was the install and the quality? u got any pics. and wat color did u get it powder coated in? heh

I would recommend that you all wait. I have the irc fmic street core and its great. The piping is very direct and short...and looks awesome as well (powdercoated gun metal). Most fmic kits now, will save you money in the long run as they ome with all the piping, and its usuallr more direct route.

I only got the "S" pipe from the SMIC to the stock hose that connects to the throttle body. I'll be getting that other piece (the "L" pipe, I think they call it) as soon as I can afford it.

The install was easy and the quality is good. The stock UICP seems like it has about a million bolts holding it in, though-- I don't get it. Anyway, once I got the UICP in and drove the car for a while, I noticed it was vibrating enough to hit against the fuse box bracket, so I removed that bracket, broke out the Dremel, and grinded out the side of the bracket some so the UICP doesn't hit against it. It was hitting right behind where the BOV tube is (I got the TurboXS version). Works great now. Also, make sure if you get it that you really crank those clamps down as tight as you can-- I was having a little idle problem until I retightened all the clamps. My fault, though, not Dejon's.

I got it in "Ford Dark Blue" and there is an engine bay pic of my car in the DSMTuners photo gallery. You can see a little of the UICP below the cold air blockoff plate and you can also see the matching Dejon intake pipe. I wouldn't call it dark blue-- it matches the NGK plug wires pretty close (also visible in the pic), if you're familiar with the color of those.

It's not extremely loud, but definitely noticeable. It also emits a short high-pitched whistle in addition to the "fsshh" sound as it blows off.

Just to clarify, I had gotten this backwards. The "L" pipe is the one with the BOV flange on it that goes to the SMIC and the "S" pipe is the one that connects to the throttle body. Yep, I'm a retard.
