I am planning on getting a bigger turbo by early next year. i was wondering if a 2.5" DP is effecient for a FP Green?or is it causing restriction?if that turbo is too big for a 2.5" DP then what is the biggest turbo i can get w/ a 2.5 DP that wont become a restriction?:dsm:

If you have your heart set on a fp green then get a new 3 inch downpipe, cuz the 2.5 will restrict flow, especially if the rest of your exhuast is 2.5 inches. You can get away with 2.5 with about 350hp id say with a green, but got with a full 3 inch and a nice o2 housing, and you can get over 400whp with the fp green.:thumb:

It's not really a cut-and-dry question you are asking. Turbo's don't like back pressure so the least amount of resistance after the turbo the better, whether it be a 14b or a T88. At what point a Green will be restricted is going to be a guessing game at best.

If you want the Green, get it, along with a larger O2 housing, exhaust etc.. Contrary to what most people think, you can grow into that turbo over time if you have 'most' of the supporting mods. What I'm saying is, don't let the smaller O2 housing be the only thing stopping you from getting the turbo you want. The Green will still spank it's share of cars with a 2.5" housing.

if you plan on getting anything bigger then a 16g then a 2.5" downpipe will be a major airflow restriction

it seems kinda pointless to buy a thousand dollar turbo and then not get the power you should because you were too cheap to buy a good 3" turboback exhaust, a downpipe costs pocket change compared to the cost of the turbo and the supporting mods you need to run it

and honestly, i wouldnt get an internaly gated green, you should be looking into a tubular o2 housing and an external wastegate to go with that turbo, but i guess thats just my opinion cause the internal gate greens are selling pretty well
if your trying to get away without buying a new downpipe then i dotn think the price of the supporting mods you need for a green will be too appealing to you. if you want something you can just throw on your car without spending a good amount of money on supporting mods then you should be looking into something along the lines of a t28 or a 16g, either will be fine with a 2.5" exhaust and your current mods

FWIW 11's have been achieved with a 2.5 inch exhaust, and of course with other supporting mods. Although a full 3" exhaust would work best for maximizing full power potential from the FP green, or any 50 trim for that matter.

What about these 2.5 inlet to 3'' after the flex joint to a full 3'' catback exhaust, just wondering if this would be considered a 3'' turbo back. It seems I see alot more of these type of downpipe. Or would there still be a restriction because of the first foot being 2.5''.

That should be fine. RRE builds there dp's like that. The first 12 inches or so is 2.5" and then after that it is a full 3". I use a 2.5" dp, 2.5" race-pipe, and then a 3" Thermal exhaust, and it is plenty.

well then can i get a FP green with a 2.5 dp & 2.5 hi-low cat then it goes to a 3" thermal because that what i have
I would atleast go race-pipe if at all possible instead of a hi flow cat with that exhaust set up IMHO.

I got my dp from exaust depot for $170 and it is bad ass. It is 2.5" until the flex, then the flex is 3" as well as after the flex. Most dp come with a 2.5" flex and this on is a 3" flex.
Also a guy on here called anomosity runs a 2.5" dp with a fp green, and he has no complaints. He runs a 12.05 I believe, so if it were me, I would just keep your present exaust and add the green. And you should defenetely think about getting a race pipe instead of that cat. It will do some good, and sound a lot throatier.
Just my $.02
I don't really know since I have no cash to play with, but hopefully soon I will also be getting a fp green, they are bad ass. And I plan on keeping my exhaust the way it is.

FYI to all, they've been selling these 2.5'' inlet to 3'' after flex joint downpipe on Ebay. I just received/installed mine a couple of days ago and it's all good, it's a cat eliminator though. Cost = $89 w/ shipping total =$115, lowest price I've seen. It's the grey/silver looking one.
