GreenBelt,
actually i forgot i have a turbo timer, for the obvious reasone. it does not work. but here is the deal, everything is hooked up correctly *i have the greddy harness* it reads engine rpms and it actually keeps the ignition on for the preset time if i dont actuall start the car. if i turn the ignition to on without starting the car it counts down as if the motor is running. but if i actually start the car and take the key out everything shuts down:confused: *why* do i always have to have to complex problems.

Donno, probably time for a new timer...

the timer is brand new never been used, it does everything its supposed to except keep the car running once the key is removed

Do you have your ebrake up when you turn off the car? The only reason I ask is because I have a blitz dual TT. And the way I have it connected, when I turn off the car and I don't have the hand brake on, it just shuts down. Just a shot in the dark.

yes i have the e-brake wire tapped, and it will not work up or down. but the timer goes threw the motions as if the car is running as long as i dont start the car. if i turn the ignition to *on* and pull the key out the timer keeps every thing on for that 1.5 minutes cooling fans radio..ect once the 1.5 minutes are up it cuts off but if i actually start the car and then pull the key out it all shuts down

Send it back. Tell them what's wrong. Maybe you got a bad one...

its been way long, but i will try it or buy a new one its only 99 bucks

Where'd you buy it from? Maybe they'll just give you a new one anyway. Never hurts to ask.

RRE gave me a deal on a new JE pistion after the oilcooler incident (only had 800 miles on the remachined block, then the oil leaked out).

i bought it from a local speed shop, and it was special ordered. i got it a long long time ago. my car has ben down for a very long time im just now finding out that stuff does not work

that happened to me as well. turns out I had a 2g harness instead of a 1g. they fit the same but the wire placement is different. test a 1g harness see if that works. They LOOK identical but are not.

that sounds like a plan i dont have the old harness box to match the part numbers but thats what i get for going to a non import/dsm shop for performance parts

heh yea thats what i did too. way back when overboost was selling the harnesses for $7, so i bought one.. yea.. they sent me the 2g harness. bastards... then i had to wait 3 months for a 1g one. BASTARDS! :)

Alright, this is what exactly happened to me. I had a HKS turbo timer type 1. Everything was hooked up right. Worked for about a week. I was getting so pissed off because nothing was wrong with the hook up. The car would run but then when I turned the car off, the TT would count down but the car would turn off. I called HKS to ask what was going on. They told me some voltage drop in the electrical system in DSM's cause something to go bad in the timer. I can't remember exactly because this happened in february. The turbo timer is bad. I had a warranty on my timer. So I sent it in around mid-february. What month is it now?? I still have yet to see my timer. So I think I am going to buy a new one. This is what I was told from HKS. Hope I was some help. Keep me posted if its something different

larry do you have the harness?

The ignition wiring is different in cars that came with stock alarm systems and cars that didn't. The harnesses however do not take this into account. I had the same thing happen to my Blitz TT. The harness was expecting the alarm wiring. My car didn't come with it. So I had to rewire some of the ignition hot and full time hot wiring. Now it works fine.

Check into that.

my car has a aftermarket alarm that the previous owner had installed. but its not hooked up,, the positive wire at the battery is not connected and the fuses on the positive wire are removed at the battery as well. would the fact that my car has an alarm wired up prevent it from working even though its not hooked up.

Its not the aftermarket that is the problem, its the factor. If you look under a replacement ignition switch they ask for 3 things: Manual or Auto, Turbo or nonturbo, and Stock alarm or not. The way the ignition switches are wired are different in each case. The aftermarket alarm has nothing to do with it unless they already rewired the ignition harness.

are you saying that i need a harness thats not for a car with factory alarm?

Bingo! At least that was the problem with my car. It was a TT harness that was expecting leads from the car's ignition that does have a stock alarm. Since yours didn't come with one, the switched leads aren't the same so you are getting switched hot where its expecting full time hot, for instance (That was just an example).

Use a DVM and test the wiring harness for switched hot leads, full time leads, and hot leads coming out of the harness. That will tell you if the TT is doing it's job.

cool the guy at the shop where i ordered the harness, did not even ask if it was for a factory alarm or not. serves me right for buying from a domestic speed shop:mad:

To be honest, they probably won't even know the difference. What I ended up doing was I spent an afternoon spec'ing each line in the harness to know what does what in what key position.

Then I just rewired it to work. :D
