Ok, here's the situation. I pulled my entire stock turbo back system off and ran a pressure test on it. The exhaust manifold (surprisingly) had no leaks, the rest of the system however is another story. the DP is completely destroyed with a crack the whole way along the seam and a hole about the size of half my fist right where the flex section starts. The catalytic converter is also in really bad shape with a hose clamp holding it together for now (but it didn't leak). Past that, the system looks fine other than the exhaust tips which could stand to be polished big time.

I am on a really tight budget until I get this car paid off so I can't be blowing money on a new turbo back. If anyone out there has a stock DP and cat. for a 1g AWD that is in good shape PLEASE let me know. I need something quick as this is my daily driver and my inspection is coming up at the end of next month.

imnot sure about your location. But here, I can have a complete system made for around $150(turbo back). Minus the muffler. Its better than buying used IMO

Well my stock dp and cat are in good shape (my car is a 99) and are coming off next week. However, I do have a 2G so I don't know if that would be helpful.

Experts....would it work???

Um....I have an 94awd tsi and i'm taking off the full exhaust....so i'm sure that might be able to help you the only thing is tha....I have to wait till Nov cuz thas when i have to get the car inspected. So i don't know if tha will help you....but i just thought u might want to know....

Umm, maybe I'm being silly, but as long as the manifold is fine, and you don't mind the noise, wouldn't any holes in the exhaust after the turbo technically help performance (easier for the exhaust to get out)?

I don't know how loud or annoying it is, but yeah. I've also passed inspections with rust-holed exhausts on different cars. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it, and just get an upgraded exhaust down the road, but I dunno what your plans are for the long run.

In the long run I would like to put something on that is a mix of performance and sound. I know this is going to make me look like a retard, but on my old talon the kid who had it before me put a performance universal muffler (Raptor from Pep Boys) with an exhaust tip that had a resonator. The car was only a 1.8 so performance sucked, but the sound was great. It was low, mellow, and only loud when you jumped on it. I'd like something that will give me some performance enhancement, but I can't get real loud b/c I like to be un-noticed it I burn someone. I'm thinking of going 2.5 mandrel bent in the future since it's not too extreme, but still a jump over stock.

The leak is just a whisper right now. It makes like a sputtering sound when it idles and you can really hear it when I shut off the car. I used an entire tube of muffler cement to seal up the hole right at the flex section for now. Maybe I'll get another tube tonight to see if I can seal up the DP.

I have a stock 1g convertor w/30k miles on it when i took it off.

very good condtion.
In green bay we don't have emissions.
So I will never use it agian.

$25 + shipping and it's yours.

My roommates got the full stock exhaust off a 91 TSI AWD that I'm sure if you waved some cash in his face, he'd give it to ya. ;)
