i remember when people said that big turbos like 20gs were just not streetable and now they are the norm for fast street cars. i was wondering if the same could be true for the Red?
Anyone have experience with an FP Red?
are they somewhat streetable?
how long would it take to spool one with a buildt motor w/ 9:1 pistons?
is it usable on a stock motor?

just want a little feed back on anyone thats had experience with a Red, and let me know the pros/cons of the turbo, likes/dislikes. maybe even some specs if you know them off the top of your head. like cfm flow ratings, hp numbers. any info would be greatly apreciated.

The Red Model is the Green Model's evil big brother. The Red is an uncompromising DSM drag turbo in a bolt on package. No it doesn't work well on the street, yes it will blow up your sorry ass stock motor, and yes, it will scare the living shit out of you. Change of shorts not included

shit, i ran a t3/60-1 with .63 a/r on a completely 1g stock motor and i didnt even notice the lag...and im pretty sure the red is comparable in size to that so my guess is as long as your not expecting stock-like spoolup you would be happy...

I think the Red is a 60-1 or 62-1 variety however I am not completly sure. I know guys who run 60-1 on his stock motor and runs 11.3 in the 1/4. He drives the car on the street and dones't use spray.

The RED, or its clones, have a 60-1 compressor wheel.

I know several people using turbos "about" that size, who run low 11's in street cars. However, that kind of a turbo and the powerband that is intrinsicially associated with it, is not great for a street car.

On the other hand, a 20g is VERY streetable, a properly built one won't take much longer than a 16g to spool up. I drove a friend's mid/high 11 second 20g powered car a few weeks ago (on the street, on pump) and it was very streetable.

I would use a 20g or a 50-trim variant on my street car. However, there is a lot of personal preference.

Keep in mind that thet 60-1 is NOT a lot better than the 50-trim, and at the boost levels you would run on the street (18-24 psi) the 50 trim could very likely be more efficient. The 60-1 is a high PR turbo.

thx for all the input guys, i wouldnt mind having a turbo that hit full boost until around 4500-5000 or so, because this is pretty much for my weekend warrior build thats in desperate need of top end power. im tired of getting sucked up by T/As and Vettes on the top end when they spray the N2o.
i went for a ride in my friends rx-7, he had a 50-trim, i was very impressed by his top end power. is the buschur 580 a 50-trim variant? does anyone have any input or experience with this turbo that they could share as opposed to a Red or a 20g for a choice? just looking for a breakdown on your thoughts on what turbo you would go with for an aggressive street build.

unless you plan to run 25+ psi and race gas on the street a red wont help you with that problem. unless you have some serious supporting mods, Just something to think about.

but a big advantage is AWD on the street, american cars will sit there ans spin in they spray in 1st and prob. 2nd depending on their tires
