OK so i got to put my timing belt cover back on after i put on my new valve cover, and what do i notice but my timing belt is significantly loose. I mean you can move it side to side. Heres my question. Is it loose becuse i need a new tensioner, which is only llike $65 bucks, or is it because of another reason. Im thinking that the old won jsut became loose and i need a new one. But i figured id ask someone with more experience before i go out and buy somthin i dont need. Any feedback will be appreciated!

Mine was loose at the bottom but not at the top. Just replace the works. Check the vfaq for details.

I didnt put a new tensioner on it yet the old one is on there which the previous owner set. it was tight a couple of months ago though. do you think i should just order a new tennsioner?

Some loose-ness between the cam gears is normal. Start the car then shut it off. If it is still loose then you got problems.
