other than the turbo itself, what parts will be necessary to complete this conversion? will it bolt on to the stock T25 manifold? is it worth the conversion "bang for the buck wise"?
Ive read that it performs very similar to a 16G and thought that this would be wise for the budget minded :)

it wont just bolt on like a T-28. You are going to need a install kit just like a 16G. If ou port the 14B it has the same potential as a Small 16G. If you can get it for less then $500 and in good condition(u can get a Small 16G for that price) it would be worth it

Used 14b, 100 bucks. RRE "hacker tweaker" install kit, 199. Good enough to run mid-high 12s for a year. I enjoyed that old 14b thoroughly. ;) And for what its worth, porting go me no where, aside from the porting that got my boost creep down from 22 psi to 14 or so.

is that all ill need is an install kit? will my O2 sensor housing fit fine? sounds like this may be my route ;)

you dont need an install kit.

1.) Try a search

2.) You only need a j-pipe and an oil feed line (and possibly a few gaskets). The j-pipe you can get new for $40, and the oil feed line you can make for <$20. If you want I can put a kit together for you. (for a small fee of course :) )

i bought my car with a 14b and it feels pretty good, will it perform like a small 16g ported??
95GSXracer- does porting really help that much on a 14b?

I got this on my car so it's basically free, $80 on porting and i have a good turbo on hand.

Can you tell me the fitting sizes I need for the oil feed line for 14b and 2g oil filter housing? I found the Aeroquip stuff on Jegs to put together my own SS feed line for $20, why bother paying $50.

The feed lines are only 40 bucks from the usual DSM vendors, might as well save the hassle and just buy one. You can use jst hte jpipe with your stock shite rubber LICP, but I would recomend getting all hard piping for ~100 bucks while you're in there. So you can save a whole 50 bucks over what I payed for my RRE kit.

Porting got me nothing on the 14b. I dont think it moves enough air to require any porting (30lbs/min), though some people say it helps thier spool up. But to be perfectly honest, anyone that complains about lag on a 14b needs to stop being a ####y and drive it on. If you have your own porting tools (30 bucks) then go for it. But I wouldnt pay much for it. Porting to get rid of creep however is not only a good thing, but its entirely necessary once you open up the exhaust. Be sure to do that, but please, for the love of God, dont get a larger flapper. Search for my post about "internal flapper blowing open info" or similar if you awnt to know why.
