I have the age old question of Turbo setup and I thought I would get some outside opinions. I've read endless threads on the T28 killer v. 16g battle, and heard countless people with "go big or go home" attitudes, and I need more. I'm specifically worried about crankwalk and am not sure I want to spend 2 grand on a t3t4 kit, or just shell out $600 and drive my 95 into the ground. But I digress, I am really wondering if anyone can give hard facts on the T28's capabilities in comparison to the t3t4. I've heard as much as 375hp to as little as 250hp with the T28, at the wheels. I have an AWD setup with a lutchmasters Stage 1 clutch. I'm already having problems with my throwout bearing and am wondering if the T3T4 will do my car in.

I'd like an honest opinion, but one also backed up with facts. I don't know how much my car is making now, especially with 107K on the clock, and my goal is to be faster than a trans am WS6. I got beat the other day, I wans't thinking I was going to win but he just beat me like I was nothing. Sure I got him off the line, but only because he didn't feel like buying new tires the next day. To make a long story short, I'm sick of only being able to beat Mustangs.

Injen intake Clutchmasters Stage I MSD 8.5 wires Denso Iridium plugs

if this is your current mod list maybe you should think about doing everything else in the upgrade path before a new turbo. With just an intake clutch and some plugs your car is probably not much faster than stock. before you drop 2k on a turbo kit maybe consider getting everything else but the turbo and see how you are doin. I have the exact same car as you and am very impressed with its responsiveness to "breathing" mods, ie. intake, exhaust, intercooler piping. add a dsmlink that your 95 is compatible with and some good tuning and that ws6 might get beat.

The reason I seem to be jumping the gun is because I was told by my dealer that my turbo was shot. The way I figured it there is no way I'm payin 1200 for stock performance.

Get a 190LPH ($100)
Get the T28 (600-400used)
Get 550cc ($235)

Boom. You'll be happy.

I really suggest getting all your pipping first. But if your turbos shot just get a T28 for the least amount of head aches. Just dont boost over 15 till you get everything you should have.

first of all just saying a t3\t4 is very vauge, u have to specify a trim so people know what turbo you are talking about, there is a big difference between a small trim, a 50 trim, and a 60-1 trim

if your looking to simpley replace your stock turbo get the t28, im not even going to get into how your car will run if you put a t3\t4 on your car with only intake, plugs and a clutch, you will end up spending another 2k on a full fuel system, exhaust, intercooler and piping, ect. to get the power you want

and just fyi, a t28's max power is about 350-375 hp, thats at the crank not the wheels, that converts to a little over 300 at the wheels, and thats with all the proper mods to go with it, your not going to be able to make anywhere near that power by just slaping it on a nearly stock car regardless of how much boost you run

Yeah my bad on not specifying trim. I wouldn't think for my car a 60 would work, I'm having a hard time thinking a 50 would work. I don't like turbo lag at all so I'd probly go for a smaller trim. I don't drive my car everyday but when I do I don't want to wait for the power.

A 60trim is a worse wheel than a 50, you will make more power with a 50 by far than a 60 have a look at the compressor map for both turbo's and you'll understand. A 50 has taken guys into the 10's so don't think it's a small wheel that doesn't produce any power. A 50 doesn't create more or less lag than a 60 because it all depends on what exhaust wheel you have it attached to. If your that concerned about spool up get a 50Trim with .48 A/R Stage 1 or 2 wheel. Even a .63 with a Stage 1 wheel would be good. It's not the size of the A/R that causes lag so much as the size of the exhaust wheel.

With any turbo if you tune the car properly you don't have to wait for power. You have to re-learn how to drive with a bigger turbo but if you have turbo lag it's because you don't know how to drive not the turbo's fault. It's all about modulating the clutch properly, I never have lag and can make boost automatically in any gear. It's all in the clutch work.:thumb:

Lets put it this way, I laid an ass raping to an LT1 Camero on the highway lastnight and as soon as he punched it I did to and pulled a full car instantly on him then continued to pull away. So much for turbo lag...

I wouldn't get a t-28 if it was me. For the same amount or just a little more you can get a bigger turbo capable of alot more. I had a FP big 28 and I loved it for the 1st 2 months and then I wished I'd went a little bigger. Now that I've got my t3\t4 set up it's just unreal. You probably don't want to go that route for your 1st turbo but a 20g or something equivalent that bolts to your mani might be a better choice. You need alot other serious mods first though. Basicly you'll need an exhaust and a feul system first.

I do intend to do all the mods with the turbo, but I just want a very educated plan of attack. Its not like I'm gonna upgrade my turbo and keep the stock exhaust, its just I don't like buying the same parts twice.

Just cause I keep seeing the ad, what do you guys think of the EVO III Big 16g?

i might just go with the evo III 16g. i was talkint tom someone about getting the compressor housing rotated and adding the 90 degree elbow.
