Ok guys if this is in the wrong place please move and sorry

Anywho , here it goes

i have a 95 tsi awd AUTO with a 6 bolt in it , i bought the car this way understanding it needed a starter, long story short after some research i figured out the guys who swapped this dident read up about the flexplate not ligning up and the crank hole being 2 shallow for the converter , none the less im going to pull my engine to machine down the converter because i do not have access to a lift.

This is where my question comes in , while my engine is out... what would you wisemen suggest i do? , things you wish you did , or things you would do if yours was out... thanks in advance - Dale:D

Remove the balance shafts if it hasnt been done yet. Do a timing belt job on it also while its on an engine stand, WAY easier than when in the car.
Maybe pull the head off and clean the piston tops, and put a nice new headgasket on.

Balance shafts have been removed , engine suposedly has 20k on it , but i am just going by what they told me. I think i mihgt go ahead and change the timing belt for the hell of it , lord knows we dont want that to jump off ;)

Yep, you might as well do the timing job on the engine stand now, instead of in the car in 30k miles or something. This way you are good to go for another 60k.
Dont forget to pull the head off, clean your piston tops, put a nice headgasket in, and arp head studs. You could pull the oil pan off and put arp rod bolts in too if you wanted.

Good call on the arp head studs and rod bolts , il do the timing belt also, you think its worth it getting the head done? , underdrive crank pulley? anything like that? , i would like to throw some better mounts in also ,

thanks for the help

forget about the rod bolts, you would have to machine the rods to accept arp hardware.... now as far as the head studs go, you should definately do that :thumb:
