Need some advice on a turbo guys help

Hey guys. I have a drag day planned for October 3 in New York and I had placed an order for the SCM50 Precision turbo however they are on back order for 3 to 4 weeks and this will definitely not do me any good.

I called the shop that I deal with locally and inquired about the ETE32 since someone was nice enough to email me regarding them and they said they have heard bad things about them. I wanted to know if any of you are running them and what your experience is. Im pressed for time and need to figure out what Im doing hella soon.

If you are in a hurry, and want the best out there anyway, contact www.agpturbo.com Talk to Ben. He can hook you up with a 50trim/T31 turbo in very "SPECIAL" turbine housing. I believe they ahve them in stock, so getting it in a week shouldnt be a problem. Give them a call.

There have been a lot of bad things said about extremes turbo's, but that another thread that doesnt belong here. No need to sacrifice what you want for races. AGP can and Im sure will be more than willing to whip you up something real quick as said above....this way you dont need to compromise anything, you get knowledgable guys with awesome CS and you get what you wanted

i would NOT get a turbo from extreme turbo. NOOOOO! i have heard nothing but bad things about thier turbo. i don't have any suggestions as mine is in the process of being rebuilt by agp turbo. they are kind of slow, but i am hoping that will work in my favor. like a week and a half when they get it. the turbo i am rebuilding is a 60 trim mutt that originally was rebuilt by extreme turbo. IT HAS 15 MILES ON THE SHOTTY REBUILD! tuning you say. i think not. i have friends in fargo who have had the same luck with these jokers! so ya spend a little more and it will pay off big. i wished i had gotten a ball bearing turbo now. turbo cost for my damm mutt will exceed $1500 after it is all said and done! now hows that for a kick in the ass? i will defend dsm'ers forever.

Dont do it bro, call around to a few shop that sell PTE's and see if they have any in stock. I got mine at a local shop here in MD they just happend to have it on the shelf because the buyer backed out.

Agp is using a different turbine housing, and i think ET is using it also. but i would not buy a turbo from ET.

cant go wrong with agp, and if they have the turbo in stock thats even better. From talking to people that just recently got turbos from agp the hybrids had this housing.

I have an ETE32 that i finally got boost on. Im running 19lbs and I spanked a 2001 Lightning badly. Ive heard alot of bad things too but I traded a T-28 for this turbo. It was also freshly rebuilt with upgraded thrust bearings so its all good. I love the turbo now that Im finally getting alot of potential outta it. Like the above statements tho, go with a PTE scm50 or call AGP and get the 50 trim they offer. I bought my T-28 though them and the service and turbos are excellent. Ill sell you mine if you want it

www.extremepsi.com is out of stock on the PTE turbo's too, but give them a call or an email. Maybe they can get you one or like jdm said have a backout buyer.

Hey guys just so you know I dunno if your aware but there use to be two guys who delt with Extreme Turbos. It was Daniel and someone else. Well stuff when wrong and Daniel lost DSM Performance and has since started elsewhere.

Anyway they use a completely new turbine housing and how about this for a big suprise Daniel trained the guy that is doing the PTE turbine housing for like 3 days. So I understand people have HEARD bad things about Extreme Turbo but I was lookin more for those who have actually gotten the turbos and used it. Like Silver98GSX.

Ive always been one to go with the doubters plus I didnt a chance to read this till this morning but Daniel stands by his work so I dont think it will be a problem if I have issues with the turbo I can return it to him.

When I inquired with Daniel he said the following:

Precision doesn't balance the rotating assy. and we do it makes for a longer life. We build them totally different they are close to the same parts but ours use a bolt down 360 thrust bearing his thrust is held down with a spring and I find that the spring is OK for stock turbos but not for a performance turbo. Scott didn't buy one of my turbos he may have gotten it from DSM-performance they used to be owned by me about two years ago and unfortunately I lost that business in a business deal that I should have never done. To say the least I lost almost $250,000 to that ass and I got screwed really bad.

So Unless you have delt with them recently its a completely different company. Dan is a good guy.

Reminds me of everyone who doesnt buy from Dark Side Racing cause they have heard bad things. I got my FMIC from them and couldnt be happier. Guess will see what the ETE32 yields.

I got my ETE32 when Daniel was still at extremeturbo

The ETE32 was advertised as having a 360* thrust bearing.

the turbo actually had a 270* just like 90% off all the people on the mutt yahoo list

The ETE32 was also advertised as having a 38mm internal gate

It actually had a 34 mm internal gate also consistent with that 90% of all others on the mutt yahoo list had.

My turbo failed at under 2000 miles.

most peoples did also. i just didn't send it back to them to get the classic oil contamination run around BS

Well I just sent Dan an email and linked him to this thread. Im hoping he can fill me on this stuff. I just want to get a nice 50 trim turbo that will put up the numbers and run strong.

I bet if everyone that bought a mutt could go back in time and get a green they would. Why risk it, if you cant get a PTE right now and you are pressed for time why not get a new green or a second hand green.

kevin, i haven't just HEARD about them, i have personally been hosed by them. how about you. and i have close friends that have personally delt with them too! all bad. well not all 1 of 3 is still working. i guess his is still working good but come on. maybe there better now, but they did this to themselves.

Obviously to each his own you know...but you asked for opinions and in my experience on this board most people are very straight up. I have ever bought ANYTHING from them due to the fact of threads like this and people like JDM keeping us updated on the crap that went wrong. To set your pride aside and tell everyone that you got focked and are willing to explain to everyone the problems is something I always admired about lots of "tuners" on here (JDM )

Anyhow I look at it this way, I never screwed extreme and they never screwed me (accept for my exhaust, but Im talking turbo wise)... People's opinions on this shuld be valid enough IMO, to sued you elsewhere. Its just money, but unless its easy to come bye, you shoudl really consider taking advice from the majority of these threads. Vendor bashing isnt needed, but these testimonials should be. good luck with your choice
