Hi Guys,

I searched found some info but would still like to ask a question. I just installed a TIAL BOV on my DSM. I was hesitating b/n the HK$ SSQV and the TIAL, and Nate @ DS Motorsports talked me into the TIAL. I run the DSM MAF translator (blow-thru). I get some major flutter @ low boost/regular street driving. I figured that there are 11 & 15psi springs. My boost is set @17lbs and even on 3rd gear pull when I let off the gas it still flutters (no compressor surges), not as bad as low boost, but it is annoying. Also the BOV is mounted upside-down ... dunno it it matters... Do you think I should go with the 9lbs spring, or should I bail and get the HK$ SSQV. My car is primarily daily diven and will remain that way.

Any input will be greatly appeciated.
Thanks in advance,

Sounds very similar to the problem people have (me included) with the GReddy BOV. My boost is set at 15psi, but around low boost it will flutter. Upon countless hours searching the subject, I have found that it is something that must be dealth with. I have not talked to anyone using the Tial for a BOV so I can't give you any advice on that, which kind of makes this a pointless reply. But, it might be something that you have to deal with. BTW, I like how you mounted the Hallman boost controller. Congrats on the "McGuyver" innovation. :thumb:

Still running the stock turbo? If so, I doubt you're pushing enough air to open it..Mine wouldn't open at 10 psi with my 60-1...it now opens fine with 22 psi

hmmm, i'm only pushing 7psi right now, and i get a little flutter. if i blip the throttle in neutral the valve opens, and if i let off the gas while driving, i can hear the whistle of it opening. if i drive normal or a little aggressive i'll hear the distinct "chuff" followed by a little flutter.

The "flutter" is common with well-made BOVs that do not leak under high boost. You have probably the best BOV on the market. Don't change it. If you go with a lighter spring, you have a better chance of leaking under boost.

Most aftermarket BOV's are really responisve, if you ease of the throttle instead of just letting go it can sometimes flutter.

The stock one doesnt do this so it may seem weird. My Greddy BOV does this and so does my freinds tial bov.

It isn't hurting anything.

You might try using a seperate boost vaccume source for your wastgate so the bov will not share that vaccume. Try putting a nipple on the intercooler pipe for the boost controller, and running the BOV straight from the intake manifold line.

Since you probably know more about this than most people, how bad do you think it is for a daily driven car to have a little compressor surge. Is it a problem that would significantly shorten the life of a turbo?

I wouldn't worry about it.

Its perfectally normal

I think the tial works great with my blow through setup with 17psi on the *hides* stock T25.

As long as your car isnt bucking from compressor surge its totally fine.

I had some doubts about the tial being used on "smaller" turbos because its lack of an adjustment. But i was simply amazed when i put it on. Works flawlessly out of the box.

I have the Tial on my drag integra. I had the same problem at low pressure(7-15psi) during the initial tuning. Once I did some power tuning and tuned up the pressure(20-32psi) it stopped fluttering and sounded awesome.
