A friend of mine is looking to get a MBC for his GST. I told him electric is the way to go, but he doesnt want to spend a couple of hundred dollars on one. I'm not too, too familiar with MBCs so which would you all recommend. Remember, he really doesnt want to spend too much money on one, but wants one that will do the job.

he asked about the $30 or so dollar ones from ebay, those any good?

thanks gang.

i have the dejon.. i like it fine.. spikes a little bit as i assume the rest of them do but i chose this one because at the time i bought mine it was the only MBC that came with a mounting bracket attached to the body of the BC and it had threaded thumbscrew and locking nut so you can unlock, set boost, and relock it all by hand, no tools required. works great and is cheap enough.

I have a Turbo XS. Work ok.

Got a good deal on it.
i wouldn't pay full price for it.

Make your own it's cheaper.

i made my own mbc and have had a joe p. they work the same. both were good, so i would say just to make your own.

i made something like this, but used a brass tee like the joe p.

how to

Made my own; a brass tee, a spring, a couple of ball bearings, and a little time tracking down parts here and there. Total cost was about $10, and I learned a bit doing it. After seeing how they were constructed, I really couldn't justify $45 + shipping for essentially the same thing with snazzier machining.

Let's hear it for the Home Depot Racing Team. :) Now, leave me alone so I can finish cutting my gutter guard....er...I mean, custom-machined grille inserts. ;)

yea thats my car... its the invader front with supra sides. well, when i had my car at the body shop who ordered my sh!t and installed it... they said it was called invader, but i've seen other invader kits and they look different. who knows?!? i love my front... really not many eclipses with it out there.

I heard the original name for your front bumper was called the "banshi" , but anyhow, from what i've heard, MBCs are all mostly the same with little variance

u might be right... i've seen like at least 5 different names for other fronts like the blitz for example. i really havent seen one just like mine out for sale anywhere. =/

I got my Joe P off of ebay for $26.00
BoostController.com was selling the old style Joe P there.
If you go to their site www.boostcontroller.com they have the old style that uses an allen wrench for adjusting on clearance sale for $35.00

I have a Turbo XS MBC. I wouldn't recommend it since it was difficult to install. However, I do hold 15 PSI consistently. Turbo XS isn't the cheapest either.

I am sure you would be ok with either the Joe P or the Hallman.

When I installed my Turbo XS.

It was a pain in the rear end to dial in boost.

Keeps spiking to 17psi then settle to 15 psi.

Had to play with the fine and coarse adjustments.

At the end I just turn the fine all the way down (which is the air bleed side).
just use the coarse adjustment only.

Which its a Ball and spring step on that side.

I just wasted $129 for some thing that I could have made for $10-15.

Should have bought a HKS EVC EZ intead

I had exactly the problem that nowayout is talking about. Except mine was spiking at 18+. It was a very frustrating few hours to figure that thing out.

I second what nowayout said. Not worth it.
