if you don't plan on getting a FMIC, then i would do it.
IF you were to get a FMIC, then you can put your filter where the SMIC sits. I"ll be doing this once my FMIC is here

I have that very same, exact heat shield on my car. The only thing is, is that I had to trim mine a little bit because of my RRE UICP. I believe he still has, or had the stock UICP when he made it for me, therefore he went by the shape of the stock UICP when he made it. It's no biggie though to trim, it's not much. I love mine, and it gives the engine bay a nice touch in the looks dept.

Alright Thanks everyone. I do plan on getting a new UICP when i get some more $$ so i think i will wait this one out...I'm trying to plan things out here and I should have about 400$ when my b-day comes around...I needa know what to spend it on. I was thinking bov and uicp or custom exhaust. What do you guys think?

Dave Brode sells an UICP with a 1G BOV flange for around $75. That's were I plan on buying mine. Getting ready to purchase that, A 1G BOV, Joe P MBC and Autometer boost gauges. That's about $225. HAven't looked at your specs but you do have the Injen, so do I. So, I guess you could also look into maybe a TT for longevity, or also have your O2 housing and Exhaust manifold ported for future exhast mods. That's my .02.

I also have that same exact heat shield on my car. And I also, like Speedy, had to trim mine a bit to fit around the UICP (I have a Dejon one). I don't think it seals to the hood though. I need to but a bigger "gasket" thingy around the top of it. There's a picture of my engine bay in the DSMTuners gallery if you wanna see how it looks.

I agree with you dude, I was thinking about going to Home Depot maybe, or Lowes to look around for something that might help to seal it to the hood a little better.

Yeah, I did that already. I got some foam pipe insulation (it's right next to the water heaters at Home Depot). Some are even already split down the middle. They have different sizes, so get the smallest size they have-- it still might be a tad big, but I'm gonna try it anyway. It's rated to 220 degrees F-- is that high enough?

Excellent!! Sounds good to me. That should be suffice.

And it's cheap too-- only about $2 for a 6-foot tube of it. No bling factor, though-- it only comes in black. :D
That's ok about the bling factor I guess, as long as it seals good. I'm just hoping I can get it to fit nice and snugg. Your making me want to go to Home Depot right now. I'm having a hard time fighting it cause #1 Home Depot is not even 2 miles from me, and #2 I have been slamming a few beers, flipping back and forth between all the races that are on tv right now, and posting, so I'm sitting here debating if I want to risk driving or not damn it. LOL

i already made one with sheetmetal
looks gheto as #@%#@%#@%#@% on mine LOL...works good though, esp. with the cold air duct running up and feeding it. whenever i kill the car and pop the hood i feel the metal end of my k&n and it is very cold. that added to my fmic = very low temps at the plenum

That's cool man, as long as it works is all that matters. I plan on doing the same thing in a few months when I finally order my fmic. I haven't decided on which fmic yet, cause I'm waiting on all the other companies such as Indy race core to come out with there version for the 2g's to here some reviews. What fmic are you using presently? Thanks!!
