I want to send my 2G head out to get some port work done to it, but it will be going back on my 7 bolt until I run into problems. When that time comes I want to replace with 6 bolt and reuse the modified 2G Head. What issues will I have? I believe I read on the NABR forum that I may have to enlarge the stud holes to 13mm. Does anyone have experience with this? I also want to reuse the 97-99 CAS that I have, I do not want to put the 1G CAS in as outlined on the Magnus site.

What I would personally like to see happen is when the 7 bolt goes, take and replace with one of Magnus's 6 bolt Hybrids. From what I have been reading you can't go wrong with their work.

Yes you have to use 6 bolt head studs so the holes on the head will need to be enlarged. The 6 bolt studs are 12mm. As for the CAS issue, if you do not use a 1g CAS then you have to machine the oil pump cover and a host of other things to get it to work. The whole benefit behind using the 1g CAS is to eliminate all of that machine work.

I agree, the 1G CAS is the way to go. Their is alot of machine work and fill work to do, if I don't go the 1G CAS route.

The 1G CAS mounting and wiring looks pretty straight forward.

u do realize that a 2g head has considerably smaller ports then a 1g head, and will not make as much power as with 1g head in the end no matter how much you port it
i just dont understand why anyone would want to put a small ass 2g head on a 1g block, u would get more power out of a 1g head on any set up, and u dont have to do anywhewre hear as much work
just aboyut everyone with a 2g wants a 1g head, i think your the first person iv ever heard wanting to put a 2g head on a 6 bolt
 
2g heads are better heads if you ported them out. They will out flow a 1g head. And you'll get better low end also. I run a race 2g head on my 6 bolt block. And yes I tried with a 1g head. I keep spares..:)
 
It all depends on what you are looking to accomplish. The 1g head seems to give more top end power while a 2g head seems to give more power on the low end. So it all depends on what your goals and current set up are. Also since he said port work is being done on the head that also makes a difference.
 
im not saying its never been done, just that most people iv known have found their car is faster with a similarly ported 1g head as opposed to a 2g head
i hope it turns out as well as your planning with a 2g head
 
As stated above about the 1g CAS, you should run it. It is so easy to hook up. So for the bolt holes in the 2g head I too have ran that combo to much success. We went 12.1 @117 mph on that combo with a slipping worn out ACT 2600. I did change to the 1g head which is ported and polished and 1mm oversized valves. Anyways you do have to have a shop enlarge the stud holes to 13mm. One last thing you can make a 2g head flow better than a 1g head with about $5000 in porting and welding services. I think Polk Performance does it.
