2g Bore sizes and myths

Ok Ive got a fellow loacal DSMer that seems to believe that 2g pistons are factory .020 larger than 1g factory pistons. Im attempting to rebuild my talon because of a melted #1 piston (too much timing too little fuel) Anyway Im thinking i need to bore it because it has minor scratches on the cyliner wall. Any one know what I should do? Motor is already tore down and ready to go to machine shop.
goal is 1g rods on 2g pistons ~400hp~

You do well to not believe a bunch of non-sense like that.

1g and 2g pistons are both the same stock bore.

Do what your machinist recommends. He'll have a line on replacement pistons.
