Has anyone thought about using a exhaust cutout for there car yet? there are alot of arguements over what size piping to use and so on but I've always read that our turbo cars would run best w/o a exhaust at all. I priced a electric exhaust cutout for $140 just a minute ago. You could run your stock exhaust all day long and when it is time to race at the flip of a switch have full open exhaust. With it closed and running stock you would pass any emmisions test also. I also needed to know what the stock piping diameter is under the o2 housing so I can choose the right cutout to install.:thumb:

What did you find when you typed "exhaust cutout" in to the search window?

Excluding a visual check. Exhaust cutouts before the cat aren't emissions legal in most places.

Make a cat back with a stock looking twin tip muffler.

How would they even know you had a exhaust cut out as long as its closed when they do the emissions test? They dont look all up under the car.

It depends on the emissions rules where you. Some inspections are more intense than others.

nice thing about florida we dont have any testing done on our cars. People drive around with open down pipes;)

A sleeper should be quiet, all the time. A cutout is just not needed because the Ultra-flo muffler flows better than an equal length piece of pipe, dont ask me how. Make two center sections, a cat for DEQ, and a test pipe for fun. If it's too loud for dates, use a Bullet. Just my .02.

I would think that a cut out would be better than have an aftermarket exaust, cheaper also, because the cut out would be before the cat ( if I was to do it any way ). This would release ANY back pressure after the turbo and it woud'nt get slowed down by the cat and small pipe also the muffler. Just by pass it all.

and just fyi those that are all "its not street legal blah blah." The Point of a cut out is to be used at the track... shut it on the street and be all quiet again.=D

Which'll last until your legislators notice how so many other states are making $40 a year per car...

There's a visual check for a cat here now- whether a cutout would be "caught" or not depends on how sharp the mechanic is.

Oh, and of course they're illegal here. Like everything else.
