This question or questions have probably allready been asked, I have searched and cannot find them, allthough I did not search all 3806 theads that came up on my search either  . OK.. My questions are as follows. I own a 93 eclipse gs and I recently bought a engine from a 90 gst w/ only 75,000 miles on an auto trans for $550.00. So what I would like to know is can I use the ecu that came with the engine that I bought ? The reason I think it will be a probblem is that the trans that I am going to use is a 5 spd, and the ecu is from a auto. And yes I am swapping the complete engine. The only difference is the tranny.

To use the new ECU you'll have to run new wires into the wiring harness to accomodate the new sensors.

As far as the tranny issue, I'm pretty sure you wont have a problem using the ECU from the auto.

The ECU is probably the same for the auto and manual. May have a different fuel map but it wouldn't be noticeable. Supergoat was partially right when he said you have to run new wires. What you have to do is swap 2 wires. #6 and #14 pins on the large plugin harness need to be cut and swapped.

im pretty sure u have to change the wiring harless regareless of what year ecu you use, n/t cars do not have the same sensors as turbo cars and u will have to hook up those sensors for the car to run, and i believe the 90 has different sensors then a 91-94 anyway, u will have to change the wiring for them even if u had a 93 turbo wiring harness

if this swap was as easy as bolting up the engine and dropping in a new ecu it wouldnt be such a frowned uppon swap, its alot harder then u expected, and changing all your wiring is a big part of it
