help me....1g intake mani and head

This kid i kno is gonna sell me a 1g intake manifold and head which includes everything in it. Everything to just bolt it onto my car and it will run(cams, valves, etc.) He wanted 300 but thats way too high so i told him 150 and we agreed to 200. My question to u guys is, is that too much to pay for those parts?
 
Jeff, your car is set up well and in ur posts u seem to kno what ur talking about. I will take your word on the head and mani prices. I beleive it came off of a 1g 7 bolt. My friend told me it has low miles but i will pull the valve cover to get a better inspection. How much of a gain can i expect with the 1g head, mani, and throttle body on my car. Also, is install a pita or just as simple as removing and installing these parts.
 
you will need to modify the water lines, some electrical stuff,

and there is no such thing as a 7 bolt 1g.. 1gs are 6 bolts.. im pretty sure..

as for gain.. you will get grat gains with a bigger turbo and exhaust.. with stock stuff... a little maby..

how hard is it..

well it took me and 3 other people 10 solid hours to do mine.. not fun AT ALL.. and you need a new head gasket, valve cover gasket, and some other goodies.. its not cheap..

its worth it of you have help, doing it by yourself should be out of the question.
 
yes, 1gs built from mid 92 through 94 were 7 bolt, i would know, mine is 7 bolt

and just the head without any cams, lifters, valves, intake mani, ect was worth more then u paid, u got a serious deal, the power gains will be well worth the time and money, just make sure u have a 1g throttle body to go along with the head and intake manifold, one from a 2g is only 52 mm, 1g is 60mm
 
I got a lil problem here guys. I just read that article at road race's website and it seems like a hard job for an 18 year old to do. Also my car has 125,xxx miles on it and a fukking auto tranny. Tonight i raced a brand new GTI 1.8turbo 5 speed. He beat me one car length thru the quarter mile. Check my profile for mod list. So from now on i'm not messing with this auto peice of shit and i'm saving to buy a 2gb GSX or TSIawd and def. 5 speed. If i can find any 1g awd in good shape i'll settle for that.
 
rre's method is the old way, i just did the swap and it aint that bad. go to the club dsm vfaq and read about it. u gotta wire in the cas and u gotta use a 1g lower radiator hose and a 1g front water pipe. you gotta change one of the water lines on your turbo also. you gotta use a 1g intake mani and u should use a a 1g tb (91 and up) if u elminta eur emissions that part will be a little easier. u can use ur 2g coil pack if you mount it on the 1g bracket or you can use the 1g if its from a 91 or up. eithe fuel rail will work but u will need a fpr to match. 1g cams are a little better also (.10 higher lift) im me at gsxstac if u need more help
