Mountain Home,
I just put a big 16g on my talon. The installation went smooth exept I snapped my banjo oil feed line bolt in two (which I had to go to the dealership to replace). We fired it up we took it for a drive! The spool up felt strong, and the high rpms felt strong... but not as strong as other cars Ive rode in! I took it to the track and I ran a .2 slower e.t. and 3 mph slower than usual. I can only think of two problems.... First I am only running 13 pounds of boost cause my boost controller is all messed up! Second I run the 1/4mile through my muffler! My exhaust is on the weak side I have a stock down pipe and a 2 1/2 press bent cat back. I think the boost could be part of the problem, but I think that the exhaust is THE BIG PROBLEM! give me some feed back... is my exhaust the problem! If this is my problem Ill problebly end up getting a turbo back 3" system. :thumb:

generaly larger turbos make better power at higher bost levels, and at only 13 psi u cant expect much difference, if u had gotten a small 16g it would have probally been faster at that boost level, im pretty sure u can find a flow chart for a 14b and a 16g on the site to compare if u can read one of those, turn ur boost up and it should be a good bit faster
and to tell u the truth, a 2.5" press bent cat back isnt really any better then stock, a 3" press bent flows about the same as a 2.5" manderal bent exhaust, press bending crushes the pipe so its inner diameter is smaller in every bend, so ur 2.5" pipe is really about 2" in almost every bend
both the stock downpipe and the cat back are holding back ur turbos power, get a full 3" turbo back and let it breath

My boost controller is "home made" so it is really hard to get at the desired boost level. Ive been out for the last hour messing around with my boost and I finally got it to spike at 16psi and settle at 14.5.... I feel a big difference but it still has more in it! Im going to buy an exhaust and problebly a hallman or profect b to get this boost under controll.
as for my e.t. in the quarter
with my 14b(that had cracks up in it and all over it) I ran a 14.4@98mph (16psi)
with my 16g I ran a 14.6@95mph (13psi)

As you all can see by my mph I have a definate loss of power at the top of the track!!!

thats because of the lower boost level, 13 psi and 16 is a big difference, the 14b at 16 should be faster then the big 16g at 13, get a better boost controler and get a 3" mandrel bent turbo back exhaust and u will be running much better times

I want to run safe boost levels... I think 15 on street and 17 at the track on race gas sounds good! Do you think 17 is to much at the track? I know that the turbo can take it but can the car??? I dont have any fuel control! The only fuel system upgrade I have is a high output walbro fuel pump!

on race gas, you can do much better than 17 psi :thumb: especially since youve got a pump upgrade too.
