1g engine swap in to a 2g car!help!

hi im swaping a 1st gen engine in to my 2gen eclipse after my 2nd gen motor blow up on me. the mechanic working on my car and swaping the engine says i need to get a 1st gen wiring harness and a 1st gen computer is that true or can he install it with the 2gen harness and ecu? if you have a solution please tell me!!

No is is not true. It should be done with the 2G ECU. Just follow the link above. Give it to Mr. Shadetree or whoever is doing the swap for you and tell him to follow it or he's not getting paid!

I would finda DSM pro in your area if possible. I have some guys doing my 6-bolt swap and they're very good and they know what they're doing. But when you do get it done, post back and tell how it is... stock block? Good luck.

yea, u only need a few small parts under the hood to make everythig line up correctly, the harness and ecu should remain 2g, ur machanic doesnt know what he is talking about, find a new mechanic

! well the car is for sale after its swaped in. the engine only has 35,000 on it the engine that broke had 126,000. so its all good. i showed the mechanic the link he siad that he would get started on it. but ill keep you guys posted on the swap. thank you guys for you help.
