I have one.. me and a buddy just found a 1g with 116k miles with 160 compression in all cylinders, so he gave the guy $500 and we took it for parts.. I figured i would take the throttle body since its 60mm and mine is 52..

considering i have hard pipes, bigger turbo, FMIC and all that jazz and am running high boost, will i get anything out of the swap?

do u have a 1g intake manifold or a stock 2g one?, cause if its a stock 2g intake mani then a 1g throtle body isnt really going to give u any power, but seeing how u have a 1g head if u put a 1g intake manifold and throtle body on there it would definitly give u some power, a 2g intake manifold is way too small for 1g head ports

I know you're trying to be helpful and all, but it would be really even more helpful to everyone if you could use the words "you" instead of "u", cleared up your thoughts a little, and gave some paragraph spaces.

And this information is wrong. You can port match a 2G intake manifold to a 1G throttlebody for a marginal gain.

"My car is a bonsai tree.
Six-bolt Progress: #4 - 160 psi #3 - 160 psi #2-158 psi #1- 0 psi. - Now me and the mad scientist will have to rip apart the block and replace the valves you bent! "

That would be: " Now the mad scientist and I will have to rip apart the block and replace the valves you bent."

Yea, I have a 1g head and intake, so I guess I will do the swap.

thx for help.

Hey, don't tell me about the grammar errors that my one true love in life, Mr. Vin Diesel, said in the holy bible of import-tooning, The Fast and The Furious... Vinny is always right.

The ass dyno felt great gains with my 1G TB and port matched 2G Intake Mani.

My bad. I thought it was your quote.:D

HAHA!! "ass dyno"

well, if nothing else, its always a good placebo..

i hate it when people try and cry about spelling and grammer like this is school or something, its not like u cant understand what i post, im just too lazy top type unnesicary letters
if u have a 1g intake manifold u definitly need a 1g throtle body, a 2g TB on there would be a big restriction with ur 1g head, it should make a noticable power difference
and of corse u can port match the 2g intake to the 1g TB, but with how cheap u can get 1g intake manifolds its far more trouble then its worth, and from what iv heard a 1g intake mani will make more power then a 2g mani thats ported by the TB to match up with a 1g TB, i was just pointing out that if u slap a 1g TB on a un-modified 2 intake mani its not going to give any power becasue the enterance to the intake manifold is 52mm same as the 2g TB

I have just recieved my 1g throttle body yesterday and plan on installing it this weekend. I have installed a 4mm oversized TB on my last 2 hondas and the "ass" dyno, so to say, has always felt a difference. I can only imagine what a 8mm oversized one will do for a car with so much more power. I didn't port match the intake manifold on the hondas either.

I found it a lot easier to port the 2g intake manifold then to swap with a 1g. I was told that if you do not have a 1g head it would be pointless to do the swap, since the runners will be restricted to the 2g head.I went to the auto parts store and picked up a metal burring bit for my die grinder, along with the 1g tb gasket. I put the gasket up to my 2g intake manifold where it bolts on to the tb and traced the inside of the gasket.I stuffed a towel in the hole so no pieces of metal get in there and burred the manifold until it matched with the gasket. It took about 15 min(only because it was not a bit for porting). It still worked. Now from what I have read on these forums swapping the manifold out takes any where from an hour and a half to three or for hours depending on wether you have done one before or not. Just my two pennies. :D :talon:

well everything is on.. but ive got a problem.. my AFC is reading 10% throttle AT IDLE now..

I need to adjust the TPS.. but i cant seem to get to that bottom screw to loosen it...

any ideas:confused:

Man, the car is REALLY bad now, in normal driving between shifts the car really falls on its face.. feels like im hitting a speed bump.. if I downshift from 4th to 3rd going 50 i shoot a nice fireball..

I guess its because its bogging the motor with too much fuel, its dumping as much fuel at idle as it would at 10% throttle and going superritch and thats why its stumbeling..

I MUST fix that.. its VERY irritating..

Did you reuse the tps from the 2g? The 1g will not work right, it has the wrong wires. If you go to the link I gave you above it will tell you how to use a multi meter to position the tps. Also you might check to see how much the throttle plate is opening at wot.I just put a board wedged on top of the gas pedal. Then checked to see how much room there was before the the throttle cable hit the stop on the tb.You can also get this info from your manuels.

I did everything right, i just need to adjust the TPS, need to get that bottom bolt loose...

Well, i got it adjusted to 0, car rus better but it idles pretty lumpy.. at like 900rpm, tried adjusting the biss screw to no real avail..

??

to speedaddicts, the hole in the flange that the throtle body bolts to is also 52mm, same as the 2g TB, if u stick a 1g TB on it and dont port the flange hole to 60mm then you have done absolutly nothing, the hole that the air entering the manifold through will still be 52mm, hondas are different

Ok so I got also a brand new TB from a 1G and I was thinking maybe using it as well. Now I have a hard time finding a head from a 1G since we dont have them hee and the few her are running so...BUT..will the 1G TB make ANY difference at all if I port match the 2G tank?Is it the runner that are the difference or is it the opening in the tank that makes the restriction in this?I might be able to get a head from a EVO III (ie 1G head) and swap..dunno yet...

OONe other thing....I got a Cyclone( I think) intake tank..and its a 60MM opening in that tank...I do not have hte manifold itself..only the tank.If I use that..I can use the 1G TB and make my own manifold for the tank to match up to and voila..a intake manifold like a MMS or similar:)
Sounds like an aidea..wil look into that :)

Hello all,
I just wanted to let all of you hardcore dsmer's like myself, that for about the same price as a 1g manifold swap including porting you can get the new Venom intake manifold for "almost " the same price give or take $90. I have the source if you are interested. I'm almost done with my laser and will have pics of the car and the $9,500 motor in a few days...drive hard..and may the speed god be with you
