rear o2 sensor funked

alright well i was taking off my heat shield above the cat today (yes i want my car to catch on fire) and when i was pulling it down i snapped my o2 sensor, (after cat o2 sensor) just the metal housing part so i decided to electrical tape it. i grounded my ground strap to the exhaust by a clamp. anyway im getting a cel and i know thats y. could this in any way hurt performance or affect gas mileage or anything? cause im just gonna go to autozone and get the cel code eliminated so no more cel light.

No it won't effect anything. Autozone can only clear the code, but unless you fix the sensor the CEL will come right back on.
