Hey everyone. I just got my new 16g, its not a big 16g so I had to settle with a small one but I have a few 16g questions that I need answered

What time would be the best to set me turbo timer at? I use my car as a daily driver but I tend to really boost on the weekends. ;)

How many psi of boost should the 16g be capable of and what psi I should leave it at for a daily driver but if I have to get on it I want the power to be there too

Last, what 1/4mile et times I should be running with the 16g and the mods listed below
Accel spark plug wires
Denso iridium spark plugs
Pacesetter air filter
Turbo xs blow off valve
Turbo xs boost controller
custom upper intercooler pipe
Arospeed muffler
all free mods
I would like to add that I have an automatic trans as well

datalogger + AFC = best

you can probably run what ive found out but i wouldnt suggest it, heres my setup:

evo3 big16g. stock injectors and sidemount, afc, fuel pump.

im running 14.7 PSI (1 bar) and I have +2% correction from 3500 on.

which is creating 820 EGTs and .95/.96 o2s.

duty cycle on the stock injectors is at the edge.

from tuning 2 nights in a row (just having fun driving home on the freeway) thats what i've found to be safe with my current setup. EGT + o2 voltage will get you by but watching the injector duty with a logger is important too.

ditch the iridium plugs, im running stockie NGKs and they treat me right. and get down with the tuning, the car is so much more enjoyable when you have the control.
 
I would guess you'd run mid 13's, being you have a stock exhaust besides the muffler.
The 16g is a nasty turbo, a friend of mine ran [email protected] on his full wieight 7 bolt 1g with leather, A/C, power steering, C/C, good stereo the whole works car with basic bolt ons. Currently the fastest and almost quickest 16g car out there. So with a few more mods you should be running 12's easily.
 
well since you don't have a safc yet(must have) I would have to guess it's safe to run at 14 maybe 15 psi. do you just have a muffler or a full exhaust? as for quarter mile time, maybe low 14-high 13 if you are good with your 60's I was running 14.7s stock with constant 2.0-2.1 60s , until modding came in and the GST revealed it's true name(Genuinely S***** Traction) If you tend to get lead foot disease on the weekend, especially with it being hot, set your timer to at least 1:30, just my .02
 
MY guess is high- mid 14s with the 16g until you have a full exhaust and upgraded fuel system. Dont run over 15psi and get some sort of pocketlogger in the near future so you make sure everything is running alright. Get the rest of the supporting mods so you can get the most out of the turbo.

No need to feel you had to settle for the small 16g instead of big 16g. The small is the better turbo in my opinion, it is alot more effiecient the the big 16g. And the big 16g doesn't out flow the small unless you use really high boost and if thats what you want these aren't the right turbo's any ways.

I'd say 14-15 psi with your current mods.

Hey guys, thanks for your feedback, I should get my turbo on Friday only b/c slowboy racing has the slowest shipping ever. so I should have it my the end of the weekend, I cant wait

I always let my car cool down for 3 minutes...unless it was recently driven and warmed up and I just had to drive down the block or something...then I let it cool down for a minute. After racing for a while and then just stopping all of a sudden I give it 5min.

Remember...its always good to give your BRAND NEW turbo time to cool down. Highway driving is the worst to just all of a sudden turn off the car...apart from exetended racing.

I have the HKS type 1 turbo timer and the setting that measures how long the car should be on really suprised me it jumped up to 2.30min really quick and I usually had it set at a min

There's nothing wrong with them. People like to bash them because they lump them in with the platinum plugs, which aren't too good. I had better idle and very good throttle response with them-- I just took them out when I went a heat range colder.
