500.00 for exhaust

Well only 2 500.00 cat-backs that are woth it. Thermal and ATR. Otherwise at AHP, or RNRracing you can get a whole turbo back for 600.

I love my Thermal.

Funny that the two exhausts that Mutted named are the quitiest (Thermal) and one of the Loudest (ATR).

I have listened to my thermal at idle and reving right next to an ATR that was idle and reving. The ATR is way louder!

Buy a 2.5" or 3" mandrel bent downpipe

Take it to a muffler shop, have them weld a flowmaster on the end of it. Or, any other muffler that doesn't have anything inside of it, just welded aluminum baffles/etc

Dump it under the car. Sort of quiet, flows real well.

not sure how good of an idea this is because exhaust gas is corrosive... after a long period of time it will cause the underbody of the car to start to rust...just something to consider...

Didn't they stop making the N1?

When I was installing my exhaust I couldn't get the studs out of the stock cat so I had to drive it to a local garage with no exhaust after the cat. It sounded like a drag car and was really loud. It was pretty cool but no where near legal. :D

Not when you can get a whole turbo back for 500-600 from a couple palces. I got my ATR off the trader for 250.00.

BTW The ATR is loud as sh1t. It makes my car sounds like a WRC EVO with no cat on it.

no they didnt stop making it, most places ran out of stock though.. they stopped making the Apexi Dunk

The best thing you can do for your exhaust system is not have a catalytic converter. Are the gains worth it for $500?

with cat: no
without cat: yes

And $500 is a huge fu@king waste for just a catback if you ask me.

Mutted-

I am looking to order either a catback or turboback today. It seems you are somewhat endorsing the turbobacks....if you can help at all, do you know anything about the ones from rnrracing.com? They have a 3" turbo-back for $500, and I have about $600 to spend. at first I was set on getting a cat-back, new cat, and downpipe, but the turbo-back seems to be a little cheaper. Also, will the hp gains be about the same? I don't see why the wouldn't, but what are the advantages of each set-up?

Man haul your ass down to a local muffler shop and have a custom turbo back done. 3 in mandrel bent ss. If you have to haul it in there and tell them its a race car. Less expensive in most cases with the same quality work. Stop paying for a name.

I have the RNR O2 eliminator DP. I reccomend a turbo back especially theres becasue I comes with a O2 eliminator true 3inch DP repacing your stock O2 housing.

what kind of "LOUD" are we talking about here. I need an idea. Is it like that kind of ricy sound like a weedeater or something?

Flowmasters are one of the worst mufflers you can use on a turbo car. They dont flow well at all despite their name. Many turbo cars picked up substantial HP just by changing from a FM to something else.
