upgrading o2 housing before turbo/exhaust

Hey guys,
i'm running a 14b on my 2g and was wondering if i could upgrade my o2 housing to 2.5 or 3" housing before upgrading any other parts(exhaust)

Will this provide noticeable upgrade?

You could do a 2.5", but 3" probly wont bolt up to the stock downpipe.
Mod from the back towards teh front when doing exhaust.
