Just got done installing a boost gauge and I am only getting 9 PSI at fully throttle! Is this right? In the process of getting a MBC right now but just wanted to get some opinions.

Does the fact that I had to tape, yes tape, the vacuum line from the boost gauge to the T-fitting because the gauge manufacture only included an all plastic, 3 sided barbed T-fitting and the line from the boost gauge has a threaded brass fitting?! Holds steady at 9, doesn't drop. Just wondering. Any help would be great. :thumb:

did u think ur stock boost was going to be 15 psi or something?
stock boost on ur car should be between 9 and 10.5 psi, that rigged up tape thing might account for it being 9 instead of 10 but many others have found stock boost to be 9, others have gotten 10.5, i guess it depends on ur car and what guage ur using
pull ur intake off and find the 2 pronged connector for the vacume lines thats directly under ur intake filter, 1 should be going to ur wastegate accuator, pull them both off and 1 should have a little metal fitting inside it, put the other back on, now take that metal piece out and reconnect the line back to where it was before, ur boost should go up to about 12-13 psi

Yea I read somewhere here that stock was around 10psi with it spiking to 12 in extreme situations..

Heres another reason, on my TSi it wouldnt boost past 8 or so psi with the stock rubber intercooler crap plumbing and crap stock 2nd gen plastic BOV. Turns out there were leaks in one or both of those setups. With new dejon tool hard intercoler pipes and a Turbo XS metal BOV I can hit full stock booST easY noW/

No, stock boost on a 2G is 12 psi. No if ands or buts. It's 12 psi. That is what the stock BCS regulates it at. You either have a leak somewhere, guage installed incorrectly, or your turbo is going bad. In which case you should check for boost leaks, reinstall the guage correctly and then check your turbo for shaftplay, hope for shaftplay cause then you get to get a real turbo. If money is an issue look for a used 14b on the trader and throw that in. They are great inexpensive upgrades for a 2g regardless of what some people say.
