Now, I have a 1g mas and I absolutely hate it. I would like a VPC or something like it. I think I read in another thread that there are cheaper alternatives to the VPC that work the same way. I have a daily driver and not a track car. Anyone know of any cheaper alternatives where I can chuck that 1g mas?

Sorry, maybe hate was too strong of a word. OMG I meant to say is I'd rather have something to open up my intake more, i.e. get rid of the 1g MAS altogether. I know I can switch to a 2g MAS but if there is another option like the VPC out there I'd like to know about it is all.

-Road///Race told me that an SAFC must use to 'fine' tune the VPC, if that's the case why use an VPC when for a few hundred more you can get an all out AEM EMS.

teamrip.com has a new
Mass Airflow Sensor Conversion that is only for use with an aftermarket fuel controller that utilizes the signal from the DSM airmeter. The "75mm afcMASC" is an airmeter replacement for the stock airmeter. The three functions of the stock airmeter and filter assembly are replaced by the afc/MASC for higher performance. The afcMASC airmeter is an unrestrictive 75mm in diameter. Just plug & play. Forget the wiring diagram, side cutters, wire strippers, butt connectors electrical tape and solder. In the time it takes to read this page you could install the 75mm afc/MASC on your car. The unit is self contained and powered by the factory wiring harness. Want me to say it again? PLUG AND PLAY!!

The afcMASC airmeter will not "miss counts" like the stock airmeter at high airflow. Inherently by design, even a gutted factory airmeter will start to loose counts at its limit. The afc/MASC features 4 different fuel maps for use with 450 (stock), 550, 660 and 720cc injectors. Just set the dip switches to the proper fuel injectors and drive. The fuel curve is very close and you'll be able to drive immediately without fumbling around the block trying to tune the thing in. Just make sure your fuel system is able to keep up with the range of this airmeter. Larger injectors and a higher-flowing fuel pump are highly recommended if you are serious about making safe power.

The fuel controller of your choice must be used to fine tune your fuel injectors with the 75mm airmeter for ultimate drive-ability. The 75mm afcMASC can be used with Apex'i superAFC (new & old). There are many other fuel controllers on the market and they all will function better with the 75mm afcMASC airmeter (vs. the stock restrictive/count missing airmeter).

This is a plug & play airmeter conversion, connecting directly into the factory wire harness (1G DSM). No cutting, no splicing. A true 5 minute bolt-on.

95-99 DSM owners the afc/MASC will work on your car with slight modifications.

I do not care what people have to say about HK$ VPC, but it can work VERY WELL by itself! I ran some of my best ETs with SAFC disabled (I did not even realized it until much later, MDS messed up SAFC rpm signal and that shut off SAFC).

So VPC alone can do GREAT! But it is expensive, and tough to get in now days :(.

BTW VPC does not work as well in 2Gs. And AEM system is not available for 1G (yet... ever?). So, if you can afford it, VPC is still by far the best option for 1G's!
