Sup guys...
Unfort. I had to sell my 97 Eclipse GS (420-Turbo) to pay for my crazy ass credit cards I owe, but luckly ended up with a 91 Talon TSI instead... With my 2G I was into the show & go (look at gallery), so Im gonna try and work the same thing into my 1G, somethin I havent seen to much of... If ya could just critize or critque my plans below... Any insight is helpful (besides "dont go for show")... :thumb:

Car:
1991 Eagle Talon TSI $ 1500

Looks:
Body Work and Paint $ 1000
17 Flik Artic + tires $ 750
Carbon Fiber Hood $ 350
Euro Chin Spoiler $ 100

Suspension:
Eiback SportLines $ 189
KYB AGX Shocks $ 308

Engine:
DSM Link + Palm Pilot $ 200
RC 550cc Injectors $ 200
Walbro 255lph $ 110
AHP 2.5" 02 Unit $ 175
AHP 3" Downpipe $ 195
AHP 3" Test Pipe $ 40
AHP 3" Elite Exhaust $ 445
AHP Stage 1 FMIC Kit $ 750
Hallman X-Controller $ 100

Misc:
LoTek 3x Gauge Pod $ 40
Autometer Phatom:
Boost Gauge $ 55
EGT Gauge $ 130

TOTAL: $ 6637

Sounds good but without a bigger turbo I don't think you'll need that fuel pump or injectors just yet. $200 sounds a bit optimistic for RC 550's. I know you already mentioned it but I would ditch the exterior stuff for a 16G. I've never seen a fixed up 1G that looks better than stock but maybe you can show us differently.

Fast cars are cool, show cars are not.

You cannot use DSMLink on a 1g, unless you want to install a 2g ECU.

There have been like 239823456 threads here on what basic mods to get for a 1g/DSM, and that many more on every other dsm site. Search.

I know theres been 2109482 (or whatever) posts about what the basic mods for a 1G are, but I dont feel the need to "follow" what everyone else does... Why not stand out and try something different for a change besides the same damn thing 2 million other people before u already have done??

You asked for a critique and got one. DSMLink? If you realize whats involved, go for it...or just get a logger. Looks like you need an AFPR.

The reason there are so many posts on general upgrades is because they are PROVEN mods. There is no point in doing things that are a waste of money (you did sell the other car to save money didn't you) and are unneeded. It is one thing to "go out of the norm" in terms of mods, but it is another to not understand why you need certain upgrades and go about things all wrong.

Since your car was all show and little go, you have some reading to do.

Take the injector upgrade for example. Why do you want to upgrade them? The stockers are perfectly adequate for what the 14G needs, even if you up the boost. So lets say you do upgrade them. You will need some form of fuel controller. Now you have bought injectors AND a fuel controller for a car that doesn't need either one. Sounds like a big waste of money.

This is what your supplied engine list should look like if you don't upgrade the turbo:

Engine:
AHP 2.5" 02 Unit $ 175
AHP 3" Downpipe $ 195
AHP 3" Test Pipe $ 40
AHP 3" Elite Exhaust $ 445
Hallman X-Controller $ 100

Well if all you want to do is be different, no one has ever wired in a Yugo ECU in a DSM. Or if you want programmable, you could wire in a Honda ECU, and get the Hondata setup. That would be really different. It would get you all sorts of mad props.

Dude...you really didn't need to say that...it didn't make your penis any bigger and the guy isn't tring to do something totally stupid..maybe he plans for a bigger turbo in the near future and didn't know that there wasn't DSMLink for 1g's (is there i don't even know cause I don't care:p )

I don't think he meant different in terms of mods but more like he wants the car to look good and be fast...like a 2g.:thumb:

He is still getting the normal basic mods except for air filter...big deal

Maybe you don't realize that its totally stupid because you are at the same point in the learning curve? If all you are here to do is admit that you don't know very simple answers(there is no DSMLink for a 1G ECU), maybe you should stick to reading the newb forum?

Wow, thats not how I read his comments at all. Are you reading it in some other language, because everytime I read it as english, it looks like he is saying he doesnt want to follow the same mod path everyone else does. I just gave him some options on how to meet his goals.

Any other ingenious comments that you'd care to make?

Sure that looks like it is WAY out of order to me. Apart from the fact that he is getting AHP which I guess have been having problems...so I read in another thread. Why do I need to now if they made DSMLink for a 1g yet? I don't have a 1g, I will never get a 1g, I don't care. I thought I read on DSMLink's site that they may eventually come out with it for 1gs...I don't go to there site everyday...so I don't know if they do. All I know is I bought a 95 Eprom ECU and will be buying DSMLink either this week or next week for my own car.

Are you doing a 1G version?

A version of DSMLink specifically for the 1st generation DSMs is in the pipeline. We just haven't had time to do anything with it lately. We'll be sure to post something about it on the homepage as soon as we have one running, we promise. We hope you understand that this is a common question submitted to us by e-mail...the more e-mail we gotta answer, the less time we have for anything else. As SOON as we have an estimate on availability, you can bet this site will be updated accordingly.

So there you go...your right...I don't know shit...I'm sorry I'm not a know-it-all internet freak...maybe I will be some day:thumb:

Play nice, kiddies. Don't get the guy's thread locked because you two need to have your little battle of wits.

You don't NEED to know it, it just shows how little you know that you don't know it. The same way you don't NEED to know that a 255 fuel pump is overkill for those injectors, with stock turbo, and no AFPR. But it makes you look like an ignoramus for trying to comment on the whole thing. Besides, HE was the one saying he wanted to go a different route with the mods instead of following the staged upgrade, I was responding to THAT comment more than anything else.

I don't go to their site every day, but just a quick read on here, or on their support group, will show that they aren't close to one for a 1G, and that the way people have gotten one to work in a 1G is with a 2G ECU. And doing a little reading on the 1G install setup will show you exactly why it sounds like a really bad idea. The guy listed the cost of DSMLink+ Palm as $200, so its pretty obvious he hasn't done his homework. Pretty much like you.

You sound bitter that someone is pointed out your ignorance? With how little you seem to know, you must be get that way a lot. Whoever said ignorance is bliss must've never met you ...

Does it pump your nuts to moderate on here? Then why would you ask if my nuts get pumped from arguing on here? I made my point about how little sense the post made about going the different route, then someone felt that an idiotic response about genitalia was called for. Wow, Deja Vu!
