C16 Shelf Life

I assume its not a good idea to store C16 in plastic containers. I just bought 5 gallons but got rained out. Will it keep OK for a week in a plastic container or should I go buy a metal one?

I use C16 for my motocross bike and have a plastic jerry can, not to mention that my gas tank is plastic. The gas sits in both for over a week depending on how much I can get out to the track and I was told that as long it is store in a cool place out of the sun it will last for months.
