I'm looking for a decent priced place to purchase a T28 through. My T25 shaft just broke and I need a new turbo. I had found a site a few months ago that was $550 w/ good core and I can't seem to find it again.

I won't know for a couple days whether my core is any good. I can move the compressor about 1/2" up and down and the fins are severely damaged. Not sure what the housing is going to look like yet.

That may have been Turbo-Speed, but right now its not listed on their site. Call and talk to them, the price was $550.

I'm in total agreement. I have thier original t28/28 (almost the same thing, but not ported/clipped as much, so not as much top end as the Big28) it installed without a hitch and I had never done a turbo install before.

I've had it almost 2 years now, and it still runs great. There is a reason why Forced Performance has a great reputation, in my humble opinion. :thumb:

I've got the T25 out now and the shaft broke right at the turbine wheel...the turbine wheel was laying loose in the turbine housing.

The oil feed line was almost completely clogged...

Thanks for the links, I guess if I want a T28, I'll be paying no matter what. I think I'll have to call a couple turbo shops as well...I have an automatic and I want to make sure I still get close to the same ultra low rpm spoolup that the T25 gave me.

BTW, those that have the T28, what have you had to do with the fuel system, or do you just keep the boost down?

I've got a Mach V Big T-28 that I would sell you pretty cheap. It has a very little bit of shaft play from some severe compressor surge....oops! A little work would need to be done to it but it would still be cheaper than a new one....only has 5k-6k on it. PM me if interested.

I like my FP ported Big28 so much that I'm now thinking internally gated FP Green sometime in the near future.

What the f**k did you do to a T-28 to make it compressor surge? That turbo just came out about a year ago. How could you abuse it enough to give it shaft play in that amount of time?

I use 550's and a walbro 255lph fuel pump with my FP Big28. Although You can use a 190lph fuel pump. I use a walbro 255 because I didn't want to have to swap fuel pumps out again, if on down the road I decided to go with a bigger turbo in which I plan on going FP Green and 660's.

Ok, I have a Walbro 255HP pump already because the stock pump had a bad o-ring and I just replaced the whole thing. I kinda figured I'd be looking at 550cc injectors and something to manage them, but am wary of piggy back controls in a daily driver.

I guess I just need to here a bunch of "I'm running 550's with a SAFC II and it idles and runs like stock" stories, or something like that. Otherwise I'll be having to look for a '95 auto ECU so I can run a DSMLink.

i have an auto also, and i loove the FP big 28, it has almost the same low spool as the t-25, but where the t-25 would start to drop at around 5k rpms the FP pulls, and pulls i'm definately happy with this turbo. i'm running 15 psi on stock injectors w/190 walbro.

I would definitely go DSMlink if you can afford it. DSMlink is the shit. I had already purchased the S-AFC before the DSMlink had even come out, but if I had it to do all over again I would go DSMlink. It just pisses me off that everytime I go to buy something the very next week somebody comes out with something better. I will probably go with DSMlink sometime on down the road, after I switch over to a FP Green and 660's.

Finally got a decent carnage picture...

I have a 190 lph pump right now and am running about 16~17psi. It runs fine. In a week or so I'm going to have my greddy front mount, then I'm probably gunna get 550's an afc, and a logger. Either that or a dsmlink, it's about the same price as the afc + logger if you already have a laptop...

I really don't think much can be improved on DSMLink. When I had a SAFC, I remember *wishing* I could get something that would log fast, adjust timing and fuel, log knock counts, etc. etc.

Then DSMLink came out. It does everything I dreamed of, and more. Like logging boost, running my 850cc injectors like stock ones, etc. etc.

I really don't find myself wishing for more. However, DSMLink 2 is coming out soon, and it's got even more cool stuff in it. IMHO, it's not really stuff that's absolutely needed. I mean, anti-lag is cool, but do most of us really NEED to send fire shooting out the exhaust? ;)

That's cool. Thanks for the info, and no.. I don't think that I would be to interested in shooting flames out my pipe LOL. Peace!!

Thanks for the suggestions guys...
I finally drove it to work today...first time in 3 weeks.

I went with a ported FP big T28 due to availability and the fact he actually answered the phone. I replaced my cracked 2G manifold with a new EVO III manifold. I ported the EVO 3 outlet to match the turbo and polished the runners. I had a local cable/hose shop make me a braided stainless oil line for the turbo.

So far it definately spools as quick as the original T25, but the engine is already running lean at 12psi where the T25 wouldn't start that until 15psi. From what I've read on here, I'm sure that's from running the 255HP fuel pump without an adjustable FPR...I guess that's next.

Forced Performance hands down after see what they can do on the track about 50% on the fasted DSM rely on FP turbo such as John Shepherd, Curt Brown, Dejan "Dan" Cokic. I can wait to be a pround owner of a FP Big T-28 by X-mas:thumb:
