I was just wondering if there is a difference between the heads on a turbo car and one on a n/t car. I ask this b/c i just had my head completely rebuilt at the beginning of the summer and put maybe 3 or 4 hundred miles on it and spun a berring, so now i'm gonna possibly buy a turbo motor and drop in my car, it has a brand new turbo on it already, but i wanted to go ahead and use my new head off of my car. Thanks for any help!!

thanks, also is this worth the time and money, or will it just be a big headache

I dont have much experience with 1st gen motors but are the valves, springs, and retainers the same for the 1st gen 4g36 N/A different from the turbo head? If they are then I say do it; it should be a easy bolt up.

As an extension of the initial question:

Are the intake manifold and Throttle bodies the same? I know the vacuum ports might be different on the throttle body but if you eliminate emissions that shouldn't be a concern right?

Most of the stuff on the intake manifolds are different (including throttle body.) The main difference is the number of pins in the electrical connectors. Also the lines running across the Intake Manifold Stay. There is a difference between NA heads and Turbo heads other than the cams. The valves on the NA are shaped different on the NA and are bowled out more. It's not significant and should cause no problems but lower your compression a minute amount. But dude, you're gunna have a LOT more to buy than just the block with a turbo. Look at some threads around here for people changing to turbos. You're gunna need to replace the exhaust manifold, O2 sensor housing, throttle body, intake piping (to accomodate for the extra piping for the turbo and IC), ECU, Fuel Injectors (450CC manual turbo stock FIs), a BOV and a couple more things that I cannot recall at the moment. Now you know why people say to just buy a turbo DSM :D.
