I know about all the serching that i should be doing, i did it... i just wanted answers to my spesific questions in one... i was wondering mostly if any 1g FWD owners have tried getting JDM engines. my problem is that my engine needs to be rebuilt, and i think maybe a couple of valves need to be replaced, and the tranny needs to be rebuilt again. i have a chance that the tranny may still be under warranty, as i cannot get a JDM engine with a fwd tranny, i need to use my existing one... now, as far as purchasing an engine, is it possible to put a 6 bolt into my car or would i be making things worse? its a 93 manual. I was told that they do not fit proporly, that i have to go with the origional silver valve covered engine.. i was looking forward to getting a cyclone intake... also, my car has the timing belt covers cracked due to friction, my belt ate through half of my upper timing belt cover until i took it off and it started cracking the lower one. i was told that the timing belt was fine, but when i revved high, it would slip almost halfway off, never fully though. how much am i looking to spend on timing belt adjustment? also, my turbo seems to not be giving much pressure, should i play it safe and get all new hoses for my car? how much would it cost? anyone seen neon green ones?
A good question to ask is should i spend the time to rebuild the motor fully, or should i just spend 1500 canadian for the engine, turbo and shipping to a buddy's house. is it easy to instal this engine? does anyone have a video or extensive manual to help me out? i dont wanna screw up!
If i need to be more spasific, please pm me... this info would be greatly appreciated.
oh, and also, i know i should be checking inside the engine's oil cap for the colour of the metal inside and to see if theres a bunch of oil in the hoses, what else should i be checking for when doing a quick look at the engine?
thanks!!! dsm'ers are gods when coming to troubleshooting.
