I have been working on my car for months now rebuild the engine, porting everything, replacing clutch, and turbo. But now when its 99.9% done i dont have the TB gasket. Im just curious if i could make my own gasket out of gasket paper and a little black rtv(the really thick stuff). or just use the old gasket and put some rtv on it. My mitsu dealer said it will take them a week to get them in. I cant wait a week, ive been waiting months for this day. Give me some feedback please.

The stock gasket is metal with a rubber coat.

So use a spray type gasket maker. The stuff in a can. Spray both sides lighttly and let it dry and you just touched up the rubber coating.

autozone or advance auto parts can usually special order one and have it the next day. That's what I did. Or you could make your own. But I think they are only like 2 bucks.

Thanks guys, i made one out of gasket paper and put a very thin coat of rtv on it(didnt even squeeze out the sides). Looks like it will be fine. I just want to get my baby back on the road.

I made one too with gasket material.

TB elbow to TB is fine. TB to intake mani isn't. Look at the darn thing, specifically at the way it is designed. It has to be put on a specific orientation and it has certain passages which I believe are specific for emissions. Your call....

i used the old gasket to make new ones. They are the exact shape and size. Yes there is some holes that u must cove, my gasket covers them. Also my car has every last bit of emissions removed.

So does mine so it wouldn't be an issue, but there are those that need to have their vehicle's emissions tested so this is important to acknowledge.

Emissions checks start next year here. It is only a visual insection, but i know some mechanics around here, they told me to bring it in and as long as i have a cat the will pass me. :D
