I tried to do a search on this, but couldn't find anything so forgive me because it's probably been done. Moving forward, what are everyone's feelings on this comparison? I think front mounts look sweet, but at the same time they aren't really the best idea for say autocrossing, are they? Or even daily driving for that matter. There are upgraded sidemounts out there that will support 400 hp and I really don't plan on going for more than that, if that.

How many of you guys are doing the upgraded sidemount thing, and what do you think about them? Do you wish you would have gone with a front mount?

good questoin man i have been wondering this too? Hopefully we can get some answers out of this. Have you looked into the supra side mount? I was thinking about getting one of those instead of the front mount.
 
Im running a Hahn SMIC, My intake temps stay the same no matter if Im on it or just cruising. Its doign its job well.
I think an upgraded smic is good for high 12's, but if you plan on going faster than that just get a FMIC.
 
Don't know what clipse is planning on running as of turbo wise...but i want to know if a supra side mount will be able to support a ported big 16g or a 20g.

I plan on running either a PTE 50 trim or a Super 16g, i'm not quite sure how big I want to go yet. Either way, the Hahn Sidemount is good for up to 400 ponies and I don't plan on going for more than that. I have, however, considered a smaller front mount that wouldn't block as much air going to the radiator. I still have some research to do.

And I agree with 98tsiawd, a 20g might be overdoing it with a sidemount.

As long as I don't repeatedly dog on the car, it holds up fine to heatsoak. IMO, with a CO2 sprayer, I would have NO problems around 20psi.
 
Sorry to high jack this thread but the question about FMIC's on 14bs have been bugging me. What about a small front mount for a well equiped 14b? Im saying like 550's, SAFC, bigger fuel pump, 2.5 inch turbo back, and lots of porting. Again sorry for high jacking the thread but the upgraded sidemount vs FMIC has been on my mind alot.
