I heard there is a resisor or soemthing that you cut or remove to get rid of the governer on my 95 Gs-t it cuts out at about 137, people have talked about this, but can it be done and does it mess up your engine at all? and how?

thanks

vfq tells you how http://www.dsm.org/how-tos/speedlimiter.htm

yes it can be done just read the article. I dont think that it will hurt the engine. The awd 2g's have this speed restriction taken off their ecu's. Their engines are no different than the fwd engines, so it shouldnt make a difference. I was going to do this but i dont feel like taking off all the things that you need to take off to get to the ecu. Then removing the ecu isnt easy either.

accually i have one more question, it says that you can clip both out, then it states later that the ECu behaved fine with the resistor clipped out did he mean to say resistors? or did he mean just one and if so which one?

he meant that there is only one resistor on the stock ECU. So..if u either solder on another 10k resistor next to the one that is there already, or you just remove the 10k resistor that is there now. It will behave the same. If you add a 10k resistor or if you just remove the one that is on there, it will have the same effect. If you ever wanted to go back, and put the speed governer back on, you could just get a new 10k resistor and solder it back on. If you do this mod or if you need anymore help let me know.

right on man, i get it now, i think ill go down to radio shack and grab a 10k resistor and solder it on so i can just unsolder it if i want to go back, thanks for your help
:)

good luck soldering one of those huge radio shack resistors in there!

yeah no prob man...but if I was you instead of soldering on a new one I would just cut out the 10k resisitor that is there already. That is alot less work then soldering on a new one, and then if u wanted to go back just save it somewhere then solder it back on.
