I think I already know the answer to this question, but I'm still learning so I figured I would ask the pros. I found a really good deal on a Big 16g and an 18g, but have yet to upgrade my fuel system... at all. I'm going to jump on one of them regardless, but should I wait to upgrade the fuel system before bolting them on? Also, which turbo would be my best choice. I'm kind of torn between the two... Thanks in advance.

You can run these turbos on the stock fuel system, but you will be limited in the amount of boost you push. On pump gas, you will probably have to keep it below 13 or 14 psi.

Definately get a pump, and some 550's with a SAFC or DSMLink would make a very big difference.

It really depends on if "this good deal" is going to achieve your goals.

I wish I would have skipped buying my Big16G and went big the first timer :)

But I agree with the above statement... you will be limited to boost on stock fuel system. Although my buddy running my old set-up is running rich on 550's and stock FP.

Just my .02

So, the Big16g was basically a waste of time? I was also thinking about going with the L1R. You think that would be a more worthwhile investment? Either way, I should probably concentrate on all of the supporting fuel mods first. 550s on a T25 would be drowning my engine with fuel though, wouldn't it? I'm just trying to take the smartest approach at this. Thanks for the help!

u cant really flood ur engine with fuel and still have it run, if u just throw 550s in ur car it will be way too much fuel but ur car will not run correctly(if it runs at all), u need some type of fuel control to use larger injectors regardless of what turbo u have, and with proper fuel control u can run as big a set of injectors as u want, get an safc and u can run 550s on any turbo set up

From the rules: (although, your post did make some sense)

USE PROPER GRAMMAR and spelling in your posts. Avoid using slang.

In regards to using 550s with ANY turbo setup...true, but it limits the amount of boost you can run before maxing the duty cycle.

just get either and run low boost til you upgrade your fuel.
Bost turbos a pieces of crap if you ask me. The big 16g isnt that great from experience, not all its said to be.
I think i would go with the 18g though becuase i have seen full weight cars run 11s with it. Even though everyone who posts here will say I am an idiot.
Also most of the big16gs out there are really just 16gs that are clipped to big 16g specs. BLAH.

550 injectors are what you need. If you go to the track you can run race gas to make up the difference in the max duty point of the injectors.

One more thing, with the big 16s there is usually a big problem with creep unless you get the 34mm flapper and/or port the shit out of it.

Hope that helps, and if anyone wants to bash what i wrote go for it. Dont care, because i dont know everything. :thumb:

I am running the 16g on my 98. and as far as I know the rest of the fuel system is stock.. but @ 11 psi the A/F meter is all the way rich, and @ 17 psi the A/F meter is 2 bars from all the way rich. I know there is better ways to check this but for now I am taking the meters advice and say that I am safe @ 17 psi when I want to run it. but daily I stay @ 11 for better fuel economy.. Profec B is awesome.. haha
