At what point, 1/4, hp, turbo etc. do i have to upgrade internals like pistons, rods, camshafts etc.

Thanks

Most sources would say that the stock 4G63 bottom end can handle 400hp. It's all about tuning though, some motors with less than 400hp and poor tuning will sling a rod, where as smithey ran 600hp on a stock bottom end because his motor was well tuned with good engine management.

You know, that's kind of a vague question. It's like asking how often you should take a bath (it depends on how dirty you get.) The life of the engine really depends on so many different variables like driver maturity, tuning, amount spent running hard, and of course the driver. Sorry that we could not answer your question, but there isn't a concrete answer. Typically though, on a 2g motor, the rods are the first to go when trying to make more power. The pistons are capable of more abuse, but anyone doing something they know nothing about can wreck those just as easily. Remember, people have destroyed stock bottom ends.:thumb:
